Went to the derm to ask about my fungus finger.

The nail with the spot, for those who recall.

Turns out, it was just MY NAIL DETACHING FROM MY FINGER.

She said I may have done that from trauma or cleaning underneath my nails too vigorously.

I feel like now it will pop off at any moment and fly across the room. She insisted it won't, but said it may or may not go away.

Just to leave it be.

Oh, I get that all the time. I have one nail with what I can only assume is a defective cuticle, because every couple of months my nail grows in all wavy and gets white spots under it. I asked the doctor once and she didn't have much to say about it other than maybe there was cuticle trauma.

But those white spots grow out, right? This looks like one at the edge that never grows out.

She also said to be careful picking at the cuticles because the wavy nails can be permanent.

They eventually grow out, but it recurs every few months. Very weird.

Hmm. Yes. I have those on occasion. Mine are def from cuticle damage/nail bed damage.

Weird that you aren't picking etc and they pop up. Bummer.
