Me: A recording of my dad being interviewed by my sister, who then interviewed me and you can hear my dad feeding both the questions and the answers. I am three on the tape.
My gram's medals. She had like five of Mary and one St. Anthony, her go-to saint when in a pickle and wore them everyday safety pinned to her bra. I can still remember hearing them jingle. I got them when she passed away and now I wear them, sometimes safety pinned to my bra.
I have a bunch of my mom's paintings and drawings. Some of them from when I was a little kid, some more recent.
I have a bunch of funny handmade cards from my brother when he was little.
I have some posters from talks my dad has given (I am the official keeper of the archive).
I have several things from my grandparents' house, things I loved as a kid - an antique clock, a wicker elephant table (lol), some dishes, and a few other things.
Photo albums and a genealogy that my grandma made of my grandpa's side of the family shortly after he passed away.
I'm not very sentimental about things. I think we moved to much growing up and I always lost stuff and it got thrown away, etc. so I just stopped getting attached to "things." I do have a teddy bear I've had since I was born that I would be very sad if it was gone, though.
Oh! My grandma's spoon collection that she passed on to me. It's in storage. I can't wait until we have a more permanent home so I can display them again.
And then this makes me sad, because I think of the things that my shitty ex kept and are probably in a garbage dump somewhere. Two very special stuffed animals from my childhood and a quilt that my mom made for my dad while they were still married that had a piece of her wedding dress in it.
I have thought about asking his family if they still have them somewhere, but I am sure that will get me nothing.

What an asshole! That makes me sad for you.
I also have my dad's childhood photo album. My grandparents were really good with scrapbooks. It has old report cards, I am chatty just like him and we both got in trouble for it at school, old programs to plays he was in, a dance card, just a whole bunch of things. It's neat to have a glimpse into his childhood.
I couldn't think so I asked my H what his most prized possession is. He pointed at me. I started arguing (obviously, because I'm not a fucking possession). He goes "but don't we belong to each other?"

omg. lol
Aw, that's sweet.
And, I think of The Secret Garden movie (the Hallmark Hall Of Fame version) each time I see your screen name.

A little wooden rocking chair that belonged to my dads great grandma. DS loves it. Also, photo booth pictures of H, DS, and myself we took at the beach this summer. We took one strip each day trying to figure out how to get all three of us in it. As a series they are hilarious.
1. My grandma gave me a ring that my papa gave her. It is fake but it meant so much to her. 2. A picture of me and my great grandfather walking hand in hand to the carnival 3. My wedding ring
I have a birthday card my mother gave to me on my 12th birthday, right before she died. I have locks of my children's hair, and a pack of letters from my sister.
My sister still has the last dollar bill my dad gave her for her allowance. She used to keep it behind his picture.

Well, the bible says so.
lol, I'm pretty sure that wasn't the thought behind it. He's just cheesy.
Actually, if my apartment were on fire, I would grab my dogs before anything else. But I feel a little weird calling them possessions because they are alive.

My answer was going to be my animals too. But yeah, same here. Wasn't sure if that technically counted.
My Nana's engagement ring. I just thought "Geez, how messed up is it that you put her ring over your own engagement ring?" But I do. My grandparents got engaged during WWII and they've both passed away. My ring is replaceable but theirs is not.
A music box filled with letters to me from my grandfather. He died when I was 20 but whatever hard time I've gone through since, I find fresh wisdom there.
1. The green setee from my grand parents house 2. My dad's baseball glove 3. The statue we got on our honeymoon 4. My engagement ring 5. My great grandmother's copy of The Tempest

Photos I guess.
Honestly I don't get really attached to things. I really like my jewelry collection, but the only things I would grab in a fire are a few pieces of original art and the photo albums.
I could pretty much sell the house with everything in it and not think twice about any of it except the artwork and photos.
