Today is July 1st. New teacher orientation starts July 23rd. That's how long I have to find a job in Hillsborough county. It seems like such a short period of time!! One school that I felt really good about on Teacher Interview Day (TID) still have all of their positions posted. The school I interviewed with on Thursday isn't hiring until next week. I loved the school but it was for a 4th and 5th grade teaching position. I wasn't focusing on the intermediate grades at all during my first round of applications but I think I might start sending my resume to the schools that have those positions open. Schools were not even allowed to hire last week and I am still starting to really feel the pressure! haha ok, sorry for my ramblings but I just had to let it out!
Also, lets say I gave a school my resume at TID but was unable to interview with them bc they were fillied up. Should I email them to make contact again? If so, what would I say? There are 3 schools that this applies to.
I would send a handwritten card to the principal at the schools that were full. I wouldn't worry too much right now bc I have a few friends who haven't even had interviews in hillsbrough

I would follow up with schools that still have positions posted. I would drop by personally and hand them your resume. But don't worry about new teacher orientation.. they offer them throughout the year as well. And I have heard of people getting offered a position like the week before school started. You never know. This past year, we had a chick freak out after the first day of school and walk out. She actually quit!! It was kind of crazy. So her replacement got hired AFTER school even started. And she ended up being great so whew for us.. Keep your head up and keep putting yourself out there! Also, if worst comes to worst, fill out an application for subbing.. because if nothing comes up at least you could sub and get your foot in the door. If you make a good impression on a school being a sub, they may hire you for a position when it comes up.
