Markers will never, ever, EVER be allowed in our house! Like, NEVER!!! They were the creation of a childless man who never had to do cleaning or decorating. Even if you train your child not to write on walls/carpet, the marker gets on their hands. It takes days to get it off. And it can transfer from their hands to white furniture.
Just ask my (childless) SIL who decided to let dd1 use her markers and ended up with marker stains on her new cream poang chair....... from dd's hands.

Awe M loves markers so much. His face lights up & he says over & over, "I COLOR, I COLOR!"
I've never had a problem with Crayola washable markers. I use baby wipes to remove from skin & they haven't stained any clothing. We only let him use markers supervised at the table & don't own any white furniture though.

Pencils and crayons in this house for colouring... She loves colouring too. (And we've no white furniture.)
