When I lived in TN my friend was asked in a restaurant what kind of Coke she wanted. And one of the kinds of Coke offered was Pepsi. "Pepsi Coke" was offered with a completely straight face!

I think we're mostly in the "army green" states, which is 80-100% "soda". I just read the map right for the first time! I thought we were slowly converting and was surprised.

They mean the other green, the bright green, not the muted shades that are still technically yellow. I was worried there for a sec.

A hoagie is just a hoagie because of the roll. Everything else about it is a sandwich... it's just denoting the bread type.

When I lived in CT it was a sub. We all know what people mean when they say it because of the bread connotation, but it's essentially a sandwich.

FI used to call it pop until I told him he was wrong. He now calls it soda (against his will, I believe). He said that pop makes more sense because that's the sound that a bottle or can makes when you open it.
