Hoagies are hoagies. Subs are subs. Sandwiches are sandwiches. All are different.
This. Although, where I live I've never used the term hoagie. To me, a hoagie is along the same lines as a sub. I realize there are hoagie rolls, but around here we don't differentiate.
Hoagies are sandwiches but not all sandwiches or even most sandwiches are hoagies. So if you go to philly and order a hoagie, don't expect a panini.
Not to mention a cheesesteak hoagie is different from a cheesesteak. I grew up thinking hoagies and subs were interchangeable, but maybe that's the northern NJ + Philly-area mix that is my parents.
Is that the same thing as a Slip Road? I had to switch my GPS from the British voice because it was all, take the slip road, and I was like, you mean the fuckin exit you dumb limey?

This made me giggle so hard and I'm really not sure why.
It's what normal people call a PARKING GARAGE, or, if you're really fancy, a parking structure.
To me, calling those things parking ramps is like calling my house a staircase, but WHATEVER. Ultimately those assholes are forgiven on the grounds that they make a fine hotdish that warms my Nordic blood.
Here is a handy map showing "safe" areas of the country versus places where your ears are more liable to be assaulted by non-soda types
Yellow = correct Blue = incorrect Red = stupid Green = "other" Lord only knows what this could be. Those folks are probably too busy handling snakes to pause for refreshment.
I disagree with your map.
I live in Oregon and nearly everyone calls it "soda".
I don't know if I should be proud or not that I know what a parking ramp is.
Edit: I have no idea what a hotdish is.
Hotdish is the Minnesooooootan word for casserole.
LOL at no one knowing the term parking ramp. I've never heard it called anything else! We also call our highways 'freeways'. I think I was 25 before I realized it's because we don't have toll roads.
