Two of the "big" items that I ordered for my DH for Christmas have not shipped yet so I am getting antsy and annoyed.
DH is a chef so these orders were placed to chef type stores/companies which are smaller companies.
I emailed both companies this morning to ask for the status of the items. Only one has gotten back to me, which is for a new "fancy" chef jacket that I ordered with embroidery on it. I placed the order on Monday, they said it was sent to embroidery on Tuesday and said that it would take up to 2 weeks to finish the embroidery. Apparently it was on the website but I missed it.
It seems like a long time for one item, don't you think?
Now I guess I need to call the other place to see what's going on with that order as I ordered it a week ago and haven't heard from them since.
Ugg, I'm frustrated that these won't arrive in time for Christmas. At least I have some smaller stuff for him.
Anyone else having frustrations with online orders arriving in time for Christmas?

Its frustrating but I think that for the chef jacket you were cutting it close ordering 7 business days before Christmas when you wanted it embroidered. Hopefully the other big item arrives in time.

Yeah you are probably right on that. I've been ordered so much stuff from Lands End that has been embroidered and shipped quickly so I was assuming they would be just as quick.
Even when it's not Christmas, most places that offer custom embroidery tell you 7 to 10 days from ordering to shipping add in how close to Christmas this order was placed and I'm not surprised you won't have it by Christmas.
All items that are fulfilled by Amazon, so I could use my prime account. It's been 6 days and nothing as shipped.
I'm beyond annoyed.
I just had to pay for overnight shipping because all of the stuff I wanted to order said expected ship date of 12/24. What happened to 2 day shipping?
Shipping is just how long it takes to get to you once it is shipped, it is not how long it takes for them to process and put the order together. Sadly.

Yeah, I know this... But amazon is usually much faster than this. I'm guessing they are swamped.

I looked on my amazon prime Tuesday to order stuff and it said it wouldn't ship until after Christmas. I'm pretty irritated since I pay prime for 2 day shipping and now they aren't doing it at the moment I guess.

That would piss me off, too, but I vaguely remember seeing that you had to place an order by some time last week in order to get guaranteed delivery by Christmas.

Did you contact them? I had a gift I ordered yesterday with my Prime shipping, and it said it wouldn't deliver until 12/24. I contacted them to ask why and they upgraded the shipping so it will be here on Saturday at no extra cost.
I would wrap pictures of the stuff and put the piece of paper in a really huge box or something weirdly shaped. I love opening things, though. I am such a kid.
I ordered some Christmas gifts on Dec. 8, and still haven't received half of them. They are indicating delivery dates of Dec. 23 and 24, but I'm not sure if the mailroom on base is open on Dec. 24. All from Amazon directly, so not fulfilled by a third party. Some of them are showing tracking info with zero updates from Dec. 10...
Some of the gifts are for some friends' kids. For DH's gift, I could shrug it off, but for kids? When I ordered with 2.5 weeks notice? Hrm.
We ordered holiday cards from Etsy on Dec 9th. They were shipping from Philly to North Jersey. The tracking shows that they bounced around various NJ towns since then, plus a stop back in Philly. They finally showed up on Dec 19. And then our neighbor picked them up by accident and opened them! I guess all is well now, but what the hell crazy postal service.
