I normally love Christmas.
Just not feeling it this year. I don't feel like digging out the tree decorations. I don't feel like wrapping.
We haven't done any of our usual traditions, and S.O. just informed me he intends to work on his car all weekend (it won't start). I don't know why he won't just consult a mechanic. It's not like he doesn't know three off them who would cut him a break on parts and labor, so it's not a money issue.

Just start going through the motions and one minute you're going through the motions and the next you're excited because it's Christmas. Or at least you went through the motions and DS had a good holiday.
This year it's just too hectic. I'm not enjoying things as much as I want to. I feel overwhelmed and exhausted, I don't even have any kids FFS.

I was determined that I was going to go ahead as usual with all of the holiday stuff this year even though H isn't here, but with trying to do the tree and the presents and the cards and the decorating and baking etc etc etc by myself, plus being insanely busy with school/work the last couple months, I've been feeling more stressed than festive.
I'm heading to my parents' for the holidays tomorrow, so hopefully once I'm with family the holiday spirit will kick in. It's hard to feel jolly by yourself.

I'm sorry, redhead.
Maybe pack your little guy into the car and drive around looking at Christmas lights? Or have him do something cute like make handprints into reindeer antlers and stick a red pompom and googly eyes? Do you have a DSLR (or a point and shoot would work)? You could take your son's pictures in front of the tree and play with the settings to get some nice lights in the background?
If you have snow, you could pelt your husband with snowballs while he works on the car.
I've even tried going through the motions and I just can't get it. I was going to make cookies today, but that didn't happen. I'm hoping to at least get out to the movies tonight (that's not christmas-y, though).
H is off work right now and he's driving me absolutely batty.

If only I had snow, I would totally do this to my H. He deserves it. Taking life to seriously lately.
If you seriously want some, PM me your address and I'll ship some (and eponinepontmercy can have some too). I made half-recipes of the cookies I've been blogging and we will still never be able to eat them all.

You're sick and you've had finals. Be lazy for a couple of days and do everything you can to fight sickness. Once you're healthy, you'll be ready to celebrate.

I'm with you. Everything just feels off-kilter lately and I just can't get it up for Christmas this year.
I'm here too. With the move this weekend we won't even be putting up any tree or decorations. I just barely decided to go ahead and get stockings tonight but only because we have a cool new fireplace at the new house. I'll be glad when it's over, frankly.
I think it's partly b/c Thanksgiving was so late this year. One moment I was on a Thanksgiving trip, and then I was halfway into December before I even blinked.
I'm definitely not feeling the cheer. I have too much to do and not even time/energy to do them.

I'm having a hard time this year too. I'm getting the basics done (gifts for family, teachers, building staff) but no extras (no cute cards, cute pictures, no special baking). Am hoping once we head out on our trip I'll start feeling it more.
I wasn't feeling it until we put the tree up and then it suddenly seemed Christmas-y in our house. I know the feeling though, before I had kids, the holiday season would make me feel depressed. I think I longed for the magic of Christmas when I was a child. Being an adult, it just wasn't fun at all, it turned into stressful shopping days at the mall and not knowing what to get people.
