What percentage of personal property coverage did you get? And why?

Did you add replacement cost coverage to your policy as well?

Just trying to get additional insight when looking at quotes.

The policy we chose for our primary residence included personal property in the premium and it is valued at 50% of the cost of rebuilding the structure. We did add on replacement cost.

We also have a rider for our dogs. While I don't think either of them would ever bite someone, there are a lot of kids in the neighborhood that practically tackle them when I'm taking the dogs on walks.

do you think pet coverage is necessary for a 5lb chihuahua who is indoor only? I know we are doing mold and fungi as well as sewer and water back up.

The only reason I am considering going Down on personal property is because of talking to agents and trying to value what we have and I'm not sure we would be close. I think we can go down to say 40% personal property and still be okay.

I think I am way over thinking this all.

Yes on the dog. My parents have a dachshund-chihuahua mix who, in his old age, nipped someone who was visiting. The person who was bit wanted to sue to have the dog put to sleep...AND HE IS FAMILY.

I think it's worth it.  I worked with someone whose dog nipped a baby.  The people weren't interested in suing co-worker, but took baby to doctor to have bite looked at.  The other family's health insurance didn't want to pay, because they said it should be paid for under homeowners.

FWIW, when I look at our personal property it seems high, but ig we had to replace everything I bet it would be more than I think.
