What are your favorite book-related names? What books are they from? Why do you like it? Have you used any BR names for your pet/kid/car/anything else, or do you plan to?
A BR name I don't particularly love, but have used: My laptop is a super old iBook (I got it used like 6 years ago), and I named it Methuselah after the oldest man in the Bible.
I don't have kids, but since I was little, I have always loved the names Adam and Olivia (Celie's kids in The Color Purple). I think Olivia is now a bit too "trendy" for my taste, but Adam is a family name on my H's side, so I might actually use it.
I also love the name Alice from Alice in Wonderland. Alice is such a curious, spirited, and adventurous girl, and I love that.
I love the name Charlotte, and Charlotte's Web was one of my childhood favorites. That spider was so giving and loving, and although I still really don't like spiders, I would use the name.
I loved the book Stellaluna, and while I probably wouldn't use the name Stellaluna, I still totally love it.
I first heard/read the name Rowan in The Witching Hour and loved it! I would probably never use it for a daughter, but a friend of mine just had a baby girl in April and she named her Rowyn.
I liked the name Claire before I read The Outlander series, so that doesn't exactly count... I can't really think of any other book-related names that I love but there's got to be some!

I think every girl who reads Little Women wants to name their daughter Josephine. I know I did, until I grew out of it. I also loved Laura, Mary, Carrie and Grace from the Little House books.
But if I were going to name my children book-ish names, I would use October from The Girls of Canby Hall series or China from the China Bayles mysteries. I love those for a girl; they are familiar but unusual.
For a boy I am torn between Gilbert from the Anne of Green Gables series, Mycroft from the Sherlock Holmes series, and Marko or Saul from the Nero Wolfe mysteries.
However since my husband disagrees on all those, and we have no plans to have children, they are destined to remain just daydreams.
I love the name Claire, mainly because of Outlander, I think. Unfortunately it would sound truly awful paired with our last name, so I won't be using it.
Our cat is named Gulliver (suggested to me by a friend, and it suits him somehow) and our dog is named Bree, sorta/kinda after the Outlander character.

I like the name Allegra for a daughter, as in the author Allegra Goodman. DH isn't crazy about it, though. He thinks people will think we named her after the allergy medicine.

I'd love to name a dog Bludger, too.
That's a fantastic name for a big, tough dog!
I would be the one naming my teacup poodle that! Our two kitties now are named Cody and Karin, after Street Fighter characters (all DH's idea)!

I love Harper (Lee) and Holden (Catcher in the Rye). They're both on my list, but DH doesn't really like either. I would also love to name a girl Austen, but DH has a nephew named Austin so that won't work.

I just named a cat Nimue (nim-oo-ay) after a character from the King Arthur and Knights of the Round Table stories, particularly The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
I second Harper for a girl (after Harper Lee). I remember one time someone was talking about naming their daughter Harper and this person was all "Um, that's TOTALLY a boy's name". Um... get to reading, dimwit!

There's also Harper Connelly (one of Charlaine Harris's non-Sookie heroines) in the contemporary fluff canon. I never thought of Harper as a boy's name.
I have always loved the name Ophelia from Hamlet and Isolde from Arthurian stories although I know both would be kinda mean to inflict on a child. I almost named my DD Josephine haha.

I liked it before too, but after reading Outlander, I've claimed it for my girls name. H is on board with it too, so that's a plus. Of course, now we will probably have all boys, but if we do get a girl, she'll be Claire.
