Nothing says Merry Christmas like 50 degrees and drizzly, but I'll take it after running in 6 degrees earlier this week.
I'm running a local Reindeer Run this morning (c25K graduation!) and realized all my favorite running clothes are for cold weather- my "in between" temps running wardrobe needs updating with some new capris- hope Santa comes through next week.
I have a jingle bell 5K tomorrow. I'm dressing up as a reindeer and it's going to be mid-50's and raining. NOT the weather I was planning (it was actually scheduled for last weekend but was postponed due to a snowstorm).

I have a Festivus 5k tomorrow. It is supposed to be almost 50 and raining at the start. We were supposed to run last weekend but we got a foot of snow instead. Should be interesting since I don't have much running gear for 50 degrees, I have to pick up my race number and tshirt today at a local running store so maybe I'll get capris, if not oh well.

Mr. GT and I ran a 5k this am and both finished second place in our age group. It was 54 at the start, I don't think I've ever worn shorts for a race this close to Christmas before.
mrshandy, which race did you run? I hope it wasn't the Christmas Caper.

It was! So funny! Congrats! I can't believe I didn't recognize you.
I finished in 53:41. Not a pr but not too bad. I'm sure I saw you.

Aww man, next time we'll have to coordinate. I'm not actually shocked I didn't notice ya. We got to the race 30 min before the start, picked up our numbers, ran a quick warm up, went to that bathroom, and lined up with 3 minutes to spare. We were probably gone before you even finished your race. Mr. GT's parents were visiting and we were trying to get home before they left.
That is an amazing time, it gives me hope for getting back into racing if we decide to have a kid sometime soon.

I will be there as well! I am wearing capris but have Autism socks I am going to pull up so it won't really matter that I am wearing capris. Good Luck! Did the guy say " Happy Festivus!" to you when you went to pick up?

Sounds like I'm bucking the trend because my race wasn't 50s and raining! I did what was supposedly a 7k obstacle trail course, but we all think it was really 5k. The dust gave me asthma-like breathing, and it was low 80s with no shade, so it was a little painful running up this massive hill, but the obstacles were fun, and I had a good time with the people from Crossfit I went with. Good luck to anyone running tomorrow!

Good luck to you too! Yes and I corrected him and said he was 2 days early :-P. I'm hoping some of the top girls won't be there so my sister has a chance at the 1st place women's prize of the Festivus pole. My family jokingly celebrates Festivus complete with airing of grievances and a Festivus pole. I'll be there wearing my new black capris from Target. I'll probably have my red sox hat on and my pink iPhone arm band. I will try and find you and not be a total creeper. I just bought the capris since I have nothing else and I think I'll freeze in shorts and didn't like the selection at all.

I will be wearing santa boxer shorts over dark gray capris and a green christmas t-shirt with Autism Socks! I think that is awesome that your family celebrates Festivus. :Y: Good luck to your sister! I haven't run in 2 weeks.... we shall see how this goes!

Ran the Christmas Carol 5K this morning. Was below freezing when we started and my fingers were still numb when I finished (even with two gloves on!).
But...
I PR'ed my 5K! Unofficially by 25 seconds! 22:20 finish per the Garmin.
It hurt so bad and I may never, ever run another 5K. I'll take the prolonged ache of ultras over the intense pain of short road races! Eesh. I kind of wanted to die!

melmel48 I think I saw you but that place was packed after. I ended up wearing a huge North Conway sweatshirt since I didn't expect it was going to be so cold.
I ended up getting another PR today and shaved another 1.5 minutes off my time, total of 5 plus minutes off my first 5k earlier this year. My sister is so fast, she ended up getting 3rd in our age group.

Great work for both of you! I was SO hot; I am glad I only wore a t-shirt and not long sleeves underneath. I did not get a PR,but finished about 25 seconds off of my PR. I am happy with that, considering I wasn't expecting hills! I came in at 33:02.I told my friend to look out for you! I had a headband on with a little elf hat on it. I ended up taking it off and carrying it for almost the whole race.
Did a holiday halfathon last Sunday that went ok (2:05) considering it was soooo windy and I had done a trail half the day before. I got tons of compliments on my Santa hat.

Yep definitely ran like right next to you then at the beginning. That's still good considering it was odd weather.

Total lurker..first, thank you all for being so great. I read but never post... I did my first 5k ever (first race ever) -36.5 which was right where I wanted to be. I will NEVER be a runner; I don't enjoy it but thought I'd give it a try since I'm still working my way down to goal weight...62 lbs down 30 more to go! Happy holidays to you all!
