I have to head out from work, but I need help.
This is our bathroom. Two different types of tile, an ugly yellow-beige counter and an huge-off centered mirror to the right. (no, the rest of that crap is NOT ours.)
I've decided to use some of my break to paint this room. But I need a color that will make the tile stand out less. Suggestions? I'm open to just about any color in the world (except maybe pink, but that'd make the tiles look worse I think).
I'm also going to look for new art because the pics I have up are damaged from our last bathroom. Eventually, this room will be redone (redoing the tile, new light fixtures, painting the cabinets and replacing the top and MOVING THE GD MIRROR TO THE CENTER.) But it should look nicer in the meantime.
What is the least objectionable color in the tile? On my monitor, I see salmon, terra-cotta and various shades of beiges. By painting the walls, a color from the tiles, the tiles will recede into the paint.

I got an awesome wall sculpture-painting combo thing and I hope its not too busy with the time. At least neutralizing it will help get a clear plan in place.
The tile doesn't actually look that horrid on my screen. I think the green paint is making it worse than it is.
I'd pick the darkest brown color out of that tile. It'd all blend in and tone down the yellow-ish tint.
This is what I was thinking, though without being able to tell about the amount of light in the room a brown could be dark. If not a brown, then a warm beige might also help tone down the tile and counter.

Zero natural light, but we have a 6 bulb fixture right now.
this is what we have for the living room, dining room and hall between those and that bathroom.

I don't like TP hung where you have to perform contorsions to reach it. This would bother me more than the mirror, epsecially since it's not only inconvenient, they hung it as if it was art.
And WTF? with the 4" apron backsplash and tile surround? Which came first? Did they tile around an existing vanity top? Or did they install the piece over the tile? What the hell were they thinking?
And all those colors! It reminds me of a tile showroom.
I'd pick a midtone out of the wall tile- maybe a taupe or salmon.
I have Behr Mesa Taupe which has a bit of pink; it's easy to live with-

A good friend of mine had salmon tile in her bathroom, and painted it a dark tan. It looks awesome. She got a pretty brown and coral shower curtain. It's totally livable.

I like that color! I think that I want to do something like that.
We took down the toilet paper holder and now the TP sits on the counter because there's no good place to put it. Really, we need to remove the vanity too because, while it's nice we have so much storage, we have NO room in there because it's so big. So now, the one thing that drives me crazy is the mirror. Flush with the right, two feet on the left before the wall. And the light fixture (wood grain, of course) is centered. So that makes it worse. I like symmetry.
