sometimes they are a little crazy but we love them anyways.
I made 8 jars of jam last night( see I need self control post). Dad always seems to think they are all just for him, silly silly Dad! Anyways now he wants more so he is buying me strawberries so I can make him more jam. Which means more warm jam is in my future!
I want to make jam but I'm scared I would mess it up
Jam is super easy. Buy a box of pectin. Read the instructions inside the box.
The big thing is to sterilize the jars & lids. I wash them first with soap and water, and then boil them in water to do that. It's not hard.
And, if a jar doesn't seal, you can always just put it straight into the fridge and use it from there - the canning part just lets them last on the shelf for a while.
Oh, and I'm lazy - the instructions always say to mash the fruit (like with a potato masher). I don't. I use the food processor. It does mean a bit more skimming of foam during the making of the jam, but not much extra work, and I prefer the consistency of the chopped fruit (strawberry, lately) over mushed fruit.
There are canning tool kits you can buy that have a few useful tools - the wide mouth funnel for filling jars and the jar grabber thingee are particularly helpful for me, but I could manage without.

No B, I love making Jam. I just have to giggle that every time I make some my Dad thinks every last jar is for him!
Lamp its as easy as Audette said. I put my fruit in my blender most often, just to make it easier. Blackberries I just measure out and mash with a potato masher in my pot.
