Paris in late August

I think you'll be fine. The major sites should still be open. I have never been to Paris in August (only September and October) but from what I have been told some restaurants and shops close but not all. If that's the only week that works then make it happen! :-)

Main points of interest will be open, and locals will definitely be trickling back in. The city doesn't close down completely. You will be fine.

Small, privately owned stores/boutiques, and then restaurants on side streets are more likely to close for a couple weeks at a time during the summer months. Nothing that should impact your travel plans.
