Last year, I bought a pair of Adrenaline GTS 12s after being fitted at a LRS, and loved them. I've since bought another pair of 12s (they were also great, and even better in pink!), and decided to get a pair of 13s on sale during a Nordstroms sale. I have less than 20 miles on the 13s, but they are killing my shins. According to Brooks' website, there aren't any big changes between the 12 and 13s. I'm stumped.
So my question--did you notice a big change between the 12 and 13s? Maybe that is causing the pain. Is it possible I got a bad pair? Is there even such a thing as a bad pair? Or do I just need to be refitted?
Huh, that's strange. I bought a stock up pair during the same sale, but had already just recently switched from 12s to 13s. I am a pretty bad pronator and use Super Feet insoles, and the 13s seemed less helpful with that problem, but otherwise the same.

I've been wearing Adrenalines since model number 7 or so. There was a noticeable difference between the 11s and 12s. A lot of people complained about the 12s. They were fine for me, but I noticed the difference. I think they increased the support a little, made them stiffer or something. It was a slight change, but noticeable. The 13s are closer to the 10s and 11s. Personally, I love the 13s and prefer them over the 12s, but obviously it depends in your feet and your body. If the 13s aren't working for you, you could send them back and try the 14s, which just came out. I haven't tried them yet. They're pink!
It could also be completely unrelated to the shoes.

I can't wear 13s. I returned them and found some close out 12s at Dicks and bought several pair. The 12s are the only shoe I can find that do not KILL my bunion. So yes, I think there is a big enough difference to notice.
It could also be completely unrelated to the shoes.
Sold! Just kidding...sort of. I'm also dealing with some low back issues, so the idea that the discomfort has totally crossed my mind. I'm just stumped on why my shins were okay after my 9 mile run on Sunday in the 12s, as compared to the "ow ow ow!" sensation after a 3 mile run in my 13s.
