"Things are going great. So much better than I expected. The only hitch is: she gets so excited nursing she forgets to breathe and turns blue. But that isn't a big deal. She's such an easy baby."
I'm doing so much better than I expected. I felt better this Christmas Eve (one week post partuum) than Christmas Eve with DD (almost six weeks post partuum). I had so much more mobility and less pain. This baby is a rock star. She nurses like a champ* and even sleeps. She has a great temperament. Her sister is adjusting pretty well.
At first, she would nurse so much and so frequently that she was throwing up every now and then. That has stopped. On her fifth night, three times she got so excited about nursing she forgot to stop swallowing to breathe. The first time was very scary. (I popped her off and got her limbs moving. We called and made a doctor's appointment for the next morning.) twice more that night it happened but I watched her like a hawk and popped her off to breathe each time. The doctor did a work up and all ruled out all the worrisome causes. Since then, she's a little more tentative about nursing (quick learner) and takes longer to latch, but she hasn't forgotten to breathe. It is something we watch for but don't stress about right now. If it happens again, we'll call the doctor again.
