I'm up at our house in Colorado trying to work up the nerve to go for a run. I have a a half in February and really can't afford to take this week off but I'm being a chicken about A) Running in a new area, B) I'm afraid of how bad I'll suck at this altitude and C) I really don't want to get altitude sickness. (I'm from Texas, okay? No elevation there, lol)
I've been guzzling water like crazy, avoiding caffeine and alcohol and have been here for about 40 hours - surely my body has adjusted to the altitude as much as it's going to for this short period of time.
So come on, let's here it. Tell me to get my butt out there.
Do it! If you normally run with a garmin or equivalent leave it at home and take it easy on yourself. And maybe just shoot for time on your feet rather than a distance?
Leave the Garmin at home (if you use one) and just take a regular watch and run for time. And don't go wander too far from your starting point. I'll bet it's gorgeous up there...focus on the pretty mountains and not on how much you're sucking wind!

Ditto shelbyann -- leave the Garmin at home, don't worry about the pace and just run.
Find a smaller loop nearby so you don't get lost. But definitely do it.
And if you're in Denver do it today, not tomorrow - its supposed to get cold, which is the only reason I've managed to talk myself into a run...soon...maybe...
Do it!! Do as simple a course as the roads will allow. Ask a local person if anywhere you are going is not advisable ( I had to ask my husband to do this for me in Belfast this week since some areas are hotspots for terrorists and simply not having a known face will get you in trouble) and just enjoy running in some different scenery. I usually go for the same distance I would have done at home, but not worry about time.

Guys! I did it and I did EFFING AWESOME. I went for 3.1 miles and my average pace was 9:07. That is speedy for me. To be fair I did stop at my MILs house (about a mile from home) to grab some water to be safe but still it was so great. @cheshire The scenery was so beautiful. I took a pic for you and posted it in the pip your run post!
