H and I tried to get into Mad Men after some good recs of it, but stopped after season one. Does it get any better or more interesting? I feel like nothing was really...happening in the show. I enjoyed chuckling at some of the 1960s stuff that we would shake our heads at today, but I didn't get the "OMG best show ever" vibe from it. However, I would be open to going back to it if it really picks up in future seasons. What do you think?
We did just get Homeland season 1 for Christmas, so I think we will start in on that and see how we like it.
I watch it, but last season kind of lost my interest. I feel like the storylines have gotten a bit stale. Im going to give it 1 more season before I dump it.

Well, you're in luck because the next season will be its last (although it's going to be split in two like Breaking Bad's final season).
OP, in my opinion, it ebbs and flows. Some episodes are great, others are kind of boring. For us, we like it enough to stick with it. Season 2 and 3 were by far our favorite seasons.

I think for me Im just tired of Dons antics. I feel like the last season was really disorganized.
That said, I was pregnant and going through a home renovation during last season so I wasnt as invested as I usually am.
Homeland is unreal! The acting and story are just incredible. I am sure you will enjoy it. I love Mad Men but I can definitely understand how it may not be for everyone.
Most shows are going to have people who LOVE the show and then people who don't get it.
I tried to do Breaking Bad. Couldn't get past the first 5 episodes. Can't understand the allure of Big Bang Theory or 2 1/2 Men at all. But people LOVE these shows.
I like Mad men, but if you don't, you don't! Nothing wrong with that.

I almost dumped Mad Men after Season 1 but I was home sick with pneumonia for days and my sis had dropped off all the seasons. I'm glad I stayed with it, I loved the next few seasons. Then the last season wasn't all that great but I will continue to watch the final season and hope it improves.
Now I thought Homeland was 1,000 times better and is one of my all time favorite shows EVER! I was sometimes up until 3am totally addicted to the show until I caught up. I am now doing that with Scandal and would have a hard time deciding between those 2 which I like better.
Agree with everyone here...Mad Men is great sometimes and boring other times. I will still watch though. Homeland on the other hand is always awesome and riveting!
I sometimes feel like there are boring episodes with not a lot of "events" and more just a shift in dynamics between the characters, and then an episode or two later ~boom~ I get it, and it was worth the build up.
