I've never really been a participant of making New Year's resolutions but I'm a goal oriented person and wanted to do something different this coming year.
All of us on this board are very focused on fitness and our health, which is awesome, but I think it comes, at times, with a price. Sometimes that price is guilt. I feel guilt when I feel I'm not living up to what I "should" be doing. I feel guilt when I take an extra rest day. Hell - I feel guilty for even taking one rest day. I feel guilty eating a cupcake, not having a race on my schedule, or a plan for the week on what workouts I'm going to do. I'm tired of the guilt and all the unnecessary focus I put on myself to be a certain weight, to look a certain way, to run a specific pace, to PR a specific time, or to run a certain number of miles.
I love to make and meet goals and will continue to push myself to meet my running and fitness goals but I'm going to do one thing that scares the s&%t out of me and to assuage some of the guilt - I'm not going to weigh myself for one entire year.
Maybe this will be a disaster and I'll gain but I realized that weighing myself has never made me feel good - it's always been a battle to stay right at my goal weight and the fluctuations were wrecking havoc on my self esteem. There are more important things than a number on a scale.
Anyone else making a drastic new year's resolutions?

Good for you. How you feel and what you do is what's most important. I hope your year away from the scale helps you feel better about you and let go of that guilt!
No "crazy" resolutions for me, turning 39 in January and just planning to make this the year of the marathon!

My crazy resolution is sticking to 3-4 workouts even during tax season. I really need to keep my health in check during my busy season and keep my stress levels lower and I think running/working out will be the best way to do that.

This is me too- I have a super crazy busy season at work coming up, and with working late/weekends,etc. I'm going to have to prioritize my workouts/healthy eating even more. I'm a little nervous, since last year at this time I was NOT practicing healthy habits and making every excuse in the book.
Nothing drastic on mine, but I just wanted to say that I think this is a really great goal for you. I know this is something you have often posted about and struggled with. Good for you!

I I have no idea when I'll be able to work out again, so I have no real workout related goals. I did want to train for a half & run in dec/jan BUT, given that I can't even walk normally, that goal is gone (for now).
I'm going to try & accept my new body for what it is & not put to much pressure on myself to get back into my jeans.. Bc EL OH EL, I tried some on yesterday & there were inches before they would button.
We have started to clean our diet back up, and eat more meatless meals. I'd like to stay on this trend. We went berserk with bad food when I was pregnant.
My overall goal is to lose the 25 lbs I've packed on since we got married...and finally run my half!
I decided to try and meet my weight loss resolution by setting monthly goals that should add up to losing weight/getting healthier in general. I wrote them on a piece of paper now hanging in my closet. I also have a space for "starting weight 1/1" and weight 1/31--that way I try and stay focused on the bigger picture. My jan goals:
-finish ripped in 30--I also made a sign with checkboxes for each day of each level that I can mark off as I complete it. I love checking off lists!
-3 bottles water a day (i take my Nalgene bottle everywhere)
-no booze (exception being tomorrow and a wedding we have on 1/18--this is in part to make sure my dress for that wedding isn't too snug!)
-complete all my 1/2 training runs for the month
I also set a reward for the month and wrote it on the sign. January is a Sephora mini spree
I am not doing anything drastic this new years - just trying for self-improvement on a really bad habit: my snooze button. I want to make morning workouts a regular thing this year, and that means I have to make it a priority to go to bed on time, and get up on time. It's a struggle, but I think I'll have more quality awake-time for it.
