Hi everyone!
I've been lurking around these bits for a few months now and thought I would introduce myself before, you know NY Resolutions and all, lol. I'm a reg over on 3TC and sometimes hop over to MM. I'm on a weight loss journey currently - in conjunction with my IF journey.
I pretty much fell in love with running as a hobby/workout this past year. I've lost 23 lbs - with many more to go - since last March when I signed up for my first 5k. I use races as motivation to keep going. When I'm signed up, I don't allow for slacking. Right now I'm not signed up for anything and have only been maintaining (which is still a win for me) but have plans for at least 3 races in 2014 leading to the Disney Half in Jan 2015. That's my goal at least.
Hopefully I'll be able to contribute but wanted to officially say hi before posting.
Well nothing fancy/too specific at this point in time. I started off just using a basic pair of Nike's I had. Then I bought a pair of Reebok SmoothFlex Ride and I liked them enough to buy a second pair. Those are what got me through this year. For Christmas I got the New Balance 890 v3 in the yellow rainbow pattern. I just liked the crazy colors, lol. I am always looking for suggestions though.

So which races do you have your eye on for 2014, and more importantly, when are you signing up??

Most of my races I base in Chicago but I'm a Chicago native transplanted in NE Wisconsin (between Milwaukee and Green Bay). I'm open to traveling elsewhere though.
The first one is the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle 8k on March 30th. Registration opens a week from today
I did both Chicago Color Runs last year and want to do the first one this year but I think it will fall on the same weekend as the PAWS Chicago Run for Their Lives 8k in June. So I'm torn there. Registration isn't open for either yet.
I could do the mid-summer Milwaukee Color Run.
Then I want to add a 10k in for the fall but am not sure where/when.
I'll probably do the Chicago Ugly Sweater Run again in November only because DH enjoyed watching me this year and he wants to join some of the smaller races.

Yup - Orlando. That would be awesome to run it "with" someone. I have family planning on making the trip for vacation and to cheer me on but not to run it.
I'm extremely slow though, haha. Fatty here isn't worried about time I just have a goal of actually finishing it.

Welcome! I was on 3TC for a while, but pretty much gave up TTC and focused on fitness. It's a great distraction if nothing else, and has improved my mood lots. Can't wait to hear how your races go!
