UPDATE: UPDATE: I had my consult today. The surgeon thinks that I am an excellent candidate for reduction surgery. He said he feels confident that I will be pleased with the results. He took measurements and pictures to submit to my insurance. I will have an answer from them in 2-3 weeks and will schedule the surgery from there.
He said one week off work would be more than enough and that I could resume my training within 4 weeks. This is great news!
You can certainly choose to a degree! Have you had a consultation with a surgeon? They can help determine what size would work best for you and your body. ie if you are a GG, you may not be able to go to a small B. PM me if you want some specific info.

I am about to schedule my consult (waiting on my H to text me our new insurance info that starts tomorrow).

I just wanted to chime in. I read your other post and saw that you are concerned about how long you'll be out of the gym... you do CF right? I wanted to say try not to let the disappointment of having to take time off CF deter you from getting the reduction. I had 2 bunion surgeries over the last year and I had to take 12 weeks off CF for each surgery. I was disappointed to take that much time off each surgery especially because before my first surgery I was in the best shape of my life and doing great at CF but I was in constant pain in both feet. Now a year after my second surgery I am pain free and it was definitely worth the time off after each surgery. Good luck with your consult!

Yes, I do Crossfit and olympic weightlifting. It's not so much disappointment as it is the difficulty of scheduling around my competition schedule. Fortunately, I am only committed through February so after that I can take time off as needed.
I had a breast reduction 20 years ago (wow). It really was a life changing surgery. Unsolicited advice, especially since you are so active, follow up with a PT because your body mechanics are going to be dramatically different and having someone guide you through that will be very helpful. Good luck!

great update, I asked for a B and they got me to a full C from a DDD. I am glad now it stayed a C. Because I ended up gaining weight after kids (not a ton but ten pounds) and a full C works proportionally for my body.
