What geeky things are you hoping to accomplish in the New Year?

I want to learn a lot more Japanese.  I don't think I'm going to take classes at the university though, it's just so much easier and cheaper to study at home, and the professor stuck very closely to the book anyway.

I also want to work hard on my next costume and really make something awesome for DragonCon, I want to incorporate electronics so I have a lot of learning to do!

Non-geeky goals include running a half marathon and finally decorating the house.  But I'm way more excited about the geek stuff!

DH and I would like to learn to scuba dive. I also want to step up my sewing and complete another ren fest costume.

I want to learn how to sew clothing so I can make my own con outfits. Mainly I want to get back in shape, I use the baby weight as an excuse but, the baby is now a toddler.
We most likely will be moving in the next month or two, back to Florida. Maybe strong arm anyone in the area into a GTG?

I would like to read more and write more.

Run faster, tighten and tone up, lose a few lbs., eat healthier.

Read more, slow down and stick to our budget better.

  A small town near Panama City and Destin. We own a house we will get to move back too.

But its so close to the beach! I know 2 of us live about hour to hour half away from were we be moving too. Wonder if anyone else does.

  So I noisy and lazy, I made my DH translate all this. He took Japanese in college, and still uses Rosetta stone to keep up with it. He had partial interviews in Japanese for his new job.

  The only downsize to asking him to translate is now he is talking about kanja and the history of it.

Lol!  I won't lie, I think the whole written language is fascinating, in a WTF sort of way.  3 different syllabaries you have to learn and they're all mixed up together all the time!  Every time I think I've learned something, I pick up my one Japanese-language manga I bought and after a few minutes I'm like "Nope!  Try again in a few months!" Lol.

I can barely pick up anything in anime, because I'm stuck on polite grammar. I minored in Japanese in university, and it's so frustrating that I can't really do anything with it, because once you're done with polite grammar, they started working on formal. So I won't offend anyone, but I can't understand conversational speaking.
