Mine is 75 for this year. Last year it was 65 and I made it to 72. Not quite sure how I did that; I was behind at the beginning of December, but then I went on this reading marathon and read like fifteen books in the last few weeks. It felt fantastic though; I wish I had the time to read like that all the time.
I don't have a goal, but I hope we have at least 3 books in the geek book club. I am going to try books on tape for when I go running and at the gym this year. I do books on tape when we go on long drives, and think it would translate well to working out. If I like it enough it will make me want to work out more to hear more. I see tons of people reading but I have a bounce run and get sick trying to read while running. Plus I seem to slow down in the good parts.
I don't think I'm going to do a numbers goal. My 2013 goal was 25, and I hit 33, but I'm a very slow reader, and there are lot of books I pass over when I'm trying to play a numbers game.
I think I'll probably do a page count goal.
I might also do something like a certain number of modern classics or award winners. There are some Hugo/Nebula winners that have been on my list for ages, and I'm embarrassed that I haven't gotten to them.
I feel like I can't make a goal because I read so much crappy fluffy fanfic. I read A LOT, but they're not books. Maybe I should start reading real books again. lol
Oh man, if we counted fanfic you could add like 20 books to my list! Haha!
I don't have a goal, but I read a lot. 100+ books a year.
ETA: I just looked it up. In the two years I've had my kindle, I've read 288 books. A handful have been purchased, the rest are from the library. I'm a SAHM, and I am usually reading while B plays.
My goal is not to read so many books I don't like. I was tricked many times last year by cool ideas and awesome first chapters on the kindle sample. No more!
If the writing sucks or I get bored, I am going to walk away. Well, that is my goal anyway.

I don't read as much as I used to and it makes me sad. I'm going to shoot for 50. I'm sure most of it will be during the summer, since I won't be working as much. I do need to get back into my writing. My poetry goal is at 150.
I've always been a huge reader, although I haven't done much lately. I just re-read (for the millionth time) "Homecoming" by Cynthia Voigt. It's a YA book, but one of my absolute favorites. I'm halfway through Stephen Hawkings "The Theory of Everything." It's taxing on my mind.

My stretch goal would be 50, but I'd be pleased with anything over 30. I remember fondly the days pre-H and DS when I was easily at 100+. I've only read two so far, so I'm off to a bit of a slow start.
So when you're counting book goals, do you ever factor in size of book? I mean, of the 10 I read last year, 7 were WoT books that are all over 800 pages.
I consider it one book but in my head, I *FEEL* like it should count as 2.
No judgement from me if you decide to do that! And it doesn't matter what your goal is, as long as you're reading!
I might do that with Les Miserables! That is crazy long!
UM...please tell me you are NOT reading the unabridged translation of that! I read that in high school...1463 pages. Still the longest book I've ever read. And trust me, its not worth it. Read the bridged. NO ONE needs to read long chapters philosophizing about the grandeur of Parisian sewers and sewage.

I actually thought it was really interesting. But I was living in Paris at the time, on a street that's actually mentioned in that section. ...But I still think the Paris sewers are interesting. I made it a point to go to the sewer museum.
However, War and Peace? Ugh. Give me Paris sewers any day over Napoleonic troop movements. We all have our Kryptonite.

Bahahaha. Well, I said no one NEEDS to read it I was in high school, too. The chapter that killed me was actually had the first sentence of "What constitutes an 'emeute, a riot?" Because it took me almost 6 months to read that chapter. I always fell asleep by its third page. I started using it to PUT myself to sleep on nights I couldn't sleep. The sewer chapters were more interesting that than chapter.
