How do you know that it's the baby moving?

I'm just about 17 weeks. For the past few weeks, occasionally I would feel something that could be the baby but it could be gas, twitch, or other random sensations. It's picked up a bit in the past few days but I still can't say that it is definitely the baby. How did you know for sure?

Mine felt like weird little tickles or twitches. They were very fleeting and mostly noticeable when I laid down in bed and was very still. I wondered for a while and then when it happened with more frequency and force, I KNEW. It won't take long for you to know for sure - and it's the best feeling ever!

For me, the early movements felt more like single muscle twitches.

For me, I wasn't feeling anything other than gas until I was laying on my stomach one day and knew it was baby, it just felt different. I was 18.5 weeks and once I knew what I was feeling the movement picked up and have been feeling her since!

I'm a few days behind you and have been feeling the same things! I was laying in bed about a week ago and felt butterflies very, very low. I could have just been hungry, though. Lol I can't wait for some definite movements - so exciting!

I started having "is it or isn't it?" feelings around 18 weeks...they went on for about three weeks, until AJ started kicking the crap out of me one night HARD. Like he was saying "Mom, quit questioning yourself that IS me moving around in here!". There was no questioning it after that.

I agree that it felt like twitches, it also felt like a little fish in there running into my belly.
