I don't think miso's post was intented as hostile at all.
I think everyone's excited to have former lurkers taking an active roll in the forum!
It's just natural to be curious. I'm wondering the same thing about many posters also. You wonder if you "know" someone or if this is a new person on the board. It's not that you're going to treat a new poster differently or not respond to their posts, it's just that you want to have a face/history to put with the person you're "talking" to.

I don't think the question was hostile at all. I've been wondering the same thing myself. It's pretty rare that a lurker comes out of the woodwork and starts posting as much you have (and that is not a criticism...I admire your ability to jump into things here, I don't feel comfortable doing that just yet). I think it is natural for people to wonder if you are new or someone they know.
I never figured out crackhabit. Everyone was giving hints, and nothing rang a bell. And then, even when I was flat-out told, I was like eh, and I had to think about who the person was before. It wasn't entirely clear to me, and I couldn't remember anything specific.
Why does it matter? Everyone was all excited about the newbies coming out of the woodwork the other day. This post seemed a little hostile.

You are probably somebody who doesn't like me.

So not the case. I am a huge Miso fan. I actually though Chilerelleno's comment was unnecessarily antagonistic, not yours. I love the Miso brand of posting.
To be fair, I am being a grumpy bitch today. I knew it when I woke up and should have just stayed away from the internets today. Sorry.
