I have a few friends that go as their primary gym and love it. They're willing to pay more for this membership because 1) it's only an hour of their time and 2) they go so they get their money's worth. I also have some other friends who use it as a supplement to their normal workouts.
My hairstylist belongs here in Denver. She's lost 50+ lbs in the past year and has totally transformed herself. She loves it. I'd consider it if I lived closer to one.
Never heard of it, but it is very appealing. It sounds like exactly my idea of a perfect workout class. However, it looks (and sounds) pricey as hell. (Take this with a grain of salt--I think Crossfit is too expensive.)
H&F lurker but used to post on the other board..... I'm a member in CO an have been since September. Love the workouts -- they remind me of some of the Crossfit workouts I've done, and they force me to do weights, which I am always loathe to do. You do a half hour of interval training on the treadmill (or bike or elliptical), and then you do a combination of the rowing machines and weight room. The weight room has TRX equipment, Bosu balls, ab dolleys, and free weights, so there's always a ton of variety in the workouts. Usually main sets with 3-4 exercises in each.
I have gained 10 lbs since I started, but I also have toned up considerably. I go twice a week, and it's definitely improved my running/endurance! Will be working on my diet next so I can get rid of some of what I've gained.
As someone short on time and discipline, I enjoy the instruction and the peer pressure.
