I just started training for the Covered Bridge Half, June 2 (I realize that is a LONG time to train. I am trying to do the FIRST program, and with my crazy spring travel schedule I know I will have to miss some long runs will out of town at meetings, so I am starting early to juggle it all around).
Mon: 4 miles Tues: strength Wed: speed Thurs: strength Fri: 3-4 miles Saturday: rest (was going to do 7, but in meetings all weekend)
No injuries, but my last "long run" of 7 miles was just pathetic.
M: spin class, strength T: 10 on TM W: 5, strength Th: am: 15 miles, pm: spin class Fr: 4 recovery, strength Sa: 8 Su: rest day
Vents: DS woke up in the middle of the night with a stomach bug. We JUST did this song and dance a month ago.I'm very grumpy at the prospect of doing it again.
No highlights or AW's yet. I think I'll get some out of this training cycle, but I have to do the work first.
B&A half 3/30 I have no schedule this week. I need a step back week and with doctor appt, going back to work, and my husbands work schedule (14 hr shifts sat and sun) it seems like a good week to do it. Just trying to get some exercise in. Vents: I hate that my husband works all weekend. On his days off he still gets to take Andrew to daycare while he goes to the gym, etc. AWs: I've got nothing
What are you training for? Date? - Run the Bluegrass Half 3/29
Schedule for the week? M - 3.75mi, swim class T - rest W - 5 mi hills R - 4 mi easy F - Rest, maybe swim S - Rest S - 8 mi
Injuries, issues, or vents? Just that since my really hilly 5k last week, my calves have not wanted to loosen up. And running on packed snow and slush the other day didn't help, either. Guess I need to suck it up and call the sports massage therapist my doctor recommended.
Highlights or AW's from the last week? I only intended to do 6.5 of the planned 7 on Sunday because I was feeling pretty out of it on Sunday, but because I had to wander around trying to find back streets that were somewhat cleared off, I got to 7 anyway!
Schedule: M: unplanned rest - stomach bug (should have been masters swim + 45 min run) T: 60 min ride + 30 min trans run, yoga W: Masters + 2hr ride R: 55 min high cadence trainer ride, yoga F: Masters + 90 min run S: makeup from Mon: 60 min swim + 45 min run S: yoga
Vents: out 3 days bc of planned rest then a 2 day stomach bug. Feeling good today though (I'm on my trainer as I'm typing - everyone is asleep and the house is silent except for the buzz of my trainer - love it)

My motivation has been super low too:( I'm not sure if it's just the normal winter blahs or if I'm just being lazy. I have plenty of time to get a run in today on the TM but i'm finding it hard to push myself to go to the gym and get it done. I just kind of don't care. I have been a cleaning machine at home too:) I guess that's something?

I'm really pumped about your teacher training - you'll have to post a lot about it! I have only been back to a really consistent practice for a few months, but I totally see myself wanting to do teacher training in the future.

Injuries, issues, or vents?
I hope to get out and FINALLY get new shoes this week. Mine are shot. The LRS I like isn't all that local, so I need to plan out time to go there.
Mentioned this is the Marathon Monday post... My left knee and top of my left foot starting hurting after my race last week, but those are injury hot spots I've dealt with for years. The remedy is time off from running and PT exercises to strengthen my glutes and core, which I have been working on. Lots of quality time with the elliptical and spin bike this week.
Highlights or AW's from the last week?
Raced and placed at a 5k last week, and was only 2 minutes off the pace I was running prior to getting pregnant last winter.
Vents: I hate that my husband works all weekend. On his days off he still gets to take Andrew to daycare while he goes to the gym, etc.
We've also been on this schedule since DD was born almost 5 years ago to help limit daycare. At least DH can handle appointments and errands that need to be done during the regular work week. Still stinks being on opposite schedules though.

None really. My ankle still gets achy from time to time, but isn't really impacting my running. This is a peak mileage week for me, so hoping I come out the other side feeling good about my races coming up.

My paces on my short runs have me excited to race my half. I hope that the faster easy runs translate into a faster race time!

Aaaaw thanks girl!! When I get a little down on myself, I really try to remember that I've had so much fun and made a lot of changes since my DD was born, and it helps me gain some perspective Ironman will kick off my 3rd year of triathlon - that's hard for me to believe some days! Thanks for saying that - you're always such a great encourager.

for me it's mostly the cold darkness that is December and January. it is really hard to motivate myself to go outside ro to the gym. this happens to me every year. it's why I sign up for this March half every year. it forces me to get some kind of exercise.
I also think that I'm a smidge burned out after marathon training this summer.

Injuries, issues, or vents? Just lack of motivation. The bitter cold + still feeling the effects of my head/sinus thing that hit right after Christmas = I want to hibernate.
Highlights or AW's from the last week? Okay, so I had a goal for 2014 of completing a 5k in under 45 minutes (my fastest previous was 46:28). Well, I had a First on the First run, and I dragged myself there even though I was still feeling pretty miserable. I was fully prepared to walk the entire thing given that I could barely breathe and kept coughing like crazy. Once I got there I decided to walk the first quarter mile and then run the next and see how I felt. I actually felt pretty good as long as I kept moving, and I managed to run/walk in quarter mile intervals the entire time. I realized I wasn't far behind the 45min pacer, so I just tried to keep her in sight...and then I caught up with her...and then I passed her! I ended up with an official time of 44:04, which beats my previous PR by almost 2 1/2 minutes. WOOT! So, since I already hit my original goal for the year on 1/1 I'm revising it to complete a 5k in under 43 minutes. I HOPE I'll hit it relatively quickly because my improvement does seem to be more noticeable lately, and then I'll revise it again. I would LOVE to finish in under 40 minutes by the end of the year. Totally doable, right? Or maybe I'm just crazy.

There is something going on with my foot. I originally thought it was from my dog stepping on me (she does that a lot). However, I've rested it for the past week and it's not going away. Now, with much help from Dr. Google, I'm starting to think it's the early stages of Morton's Neuroma, which is really upsetting (I will be making an appointment with an ortho today). I cut my 10 miler - only 0.5 miles into it, and I'm probably going to skip the shorter runs this week and just swap in more biking. Hopefully by the weekend, things will have improved for my 12 miler? I don't know. Grrrr...
This marathon is not my priority, and I build in an extra 10 weeks in Ironman training for flexibility (injuries and illness, etc.). So hopefully, at worst, I scrap the marathon, and rest up for another 8-9 weeks, and then start IM training in March with a healed foot.

Besides this foot problem, I did all my training, ate healthily, and just feel really good mentally and physically. It was a good week.

Injuries, issues, or vents? So far I have been very lucky except for sometimes my left foot goes numb but I have switched up my socks and it has seemed to help some
Injuries, issues, or vents? I haven't run more than 1 mile (and that was once) since my half in early October due to a probable stress fracture. I've kept up with strength and cardio through spin and kickboxing but there is nothing that compares with running. I was happy I could do 2 miles at a close to normal pace yesterday since it's been so long but it was pretty rough. Hoping it comes back quickly. And my leg didn't bother me at all, so fingers crossed.
Still trying to convince my normal running partner to register, otherwise I'll need to find new people to train with. I really enjoy running with others, especially on cold, early weekends.
