I don't know if I'm just being a big crab or what, but I don't like Penny anymore. I think Leonard did the right thing in turning her down. I don't know if we are supposed to believe that Penny really loves Leonard but if so the writers have done a terrible job in that department. Don't even get me started on Raj.
ETA: I think it would be really interesting to see Penny move on from acting and pursue something else. I would like that more than if she got her big break.
I agree ... Penny was a real ass to Leonard in this episode. I get that she's depressed, but she needs to grow the hell up and realize that acting isn't going to pan out for her. Nothing Leonard said to her in this episode was incorrect, and I'm tired of him always cowering down to her because she's his hot girlfriend.
If she's still working at The Cheesecake Factory at age 25 (or whatever she's supposed to be) then that's not anyone's fault but her own. WTF happened to her going to the college classes? If she's so mopey that she can't do anything besides waitress and act, then why doesn't she go back to school and learn a new skill? Or get into the hospitality field? A pretty girl with a decent personality probably wouldn't have too much trouble finding a job as a hotel clerk, a bank teller, or as a hostess/manager at a more upscale restaurant.
I'm also tired of Raj's pity parties, but what they've done to Stuart is just plain pathetic.
The scene in the kitchen between Sheldon and Leonard was really nice.
I agree. I used to root for Penny and Leonard, but not so much anymore. I thought it was cute how they set it up that someday Penny would propose to Leonard, but this was awful. She can't be mad at him for not saying yes was she was only proposing because she was drunk and depressed! It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
I actually kind of liked when Alex (Sheldon's intern) was interested in Leonard, although I didn't want Leonard to cheat. He deserves someone who actually appreciates him.

Agreed. I mean Leonard likes Penny because...? She's pretty?
My biggest problem is that they've basically written it so that Penny is an alcoholic, but they never seem to acknowledge it. For a couple of seasons now, they've treated her drinking as something for a punchline in a joke, when it's far from normal.
I really wonder if there are any women on the writing staff, because they have really missed the mark with Penny.

Yes, and they're also making jokes about Stuart being depressed and possibly suicidal.
They've turned everyone into a stereotyped caricature with no depth this season...drunk, dumb blonde Penny...lonely, effeminate Raj, Bernadette the shrew, suicidal Stuart...I loved this show, but this season has been a letdown.

And they've made Bernie into a bit of a bitch, all the crap that Amy puts up with. I wonder this too.
They just need to do something with Penny. Maybe her finally really trying will be a good thing. I'm glad Leonard said no and seems to have started thinking about the relationship.
I can't stand what they've done to Raj. And the jokes about Stuart being depressed are not funny. I like that character but feel odd about the depression jokes.
I was really hoping they would pursue the going back to school route. The show is largely about academia...I think it would be interesting to see Penny more involved in that.
