You are having a construction project done. It is costing $$$. This person has great references. So, the person informs you that 'his guys' have installed some parts of the project unevenly 'because their measuring was off' and for you to look at it. You just stare, not sure what to do, because... you're paying to have it done right.
You finally say, 'Wow, yeah, those are uneven.'
Construction person cops an attitude with you, and says, 'What, you want us to reinstall ALL of them?!'
You say, quietly, 'Well, we are paying a lot for this job, I'd like to be done right.'
Reasonable, yes? Now construction people are all giving you the stink-eye here and there and you feel really uncomfortable/unsure what to say/do/how to react without being unprofessional/losing your cool on them. How would you deal with them from now on?

I'd try to ignore the stink-eye and supervise their work even more closely. Is it the kind of job where you can do a walk-through each evening with the supervisor to approve the day's work?
I would talk to the supervisor and let him know that you are not happy with the attitude and if they want to be paid in full, they need to respect you as the customer. THEY made the mistake and THEY need to fix it.
I am seriously wide-eyed myself. I honestly can't believe that they #1, put things in unevenly, and #2, asked me what I thought and took offense to me verifying that they are, indeed, uneven.

The person that talked to me IS the supervisor. I don't normally like to bug H, but I just wrote him an email. He is super-softie, so he won't do anything, but I just want him aware.

My H is a super softie also, I always have to the hard ass in most situations. I guess as long as you monitor and take pictures and they fix it, there isn't much else you can do unless you start over with a different company.
So I just talked to one of the non-supervisors and he was so nice. They're already fixing the problem. Only a couple are stink-eyeing now. Progress. lol He said that supervisor was upset with him because he screwed it up, and when supervisor is upset he's rude to everyone, and to not take it personally.
