I have decided that I would like to get down to my goal weight by the time I turn 30 in April 2015. So 67 weeks from now. I have 57 pounds to get there. That is doable right? It is less then a pound a week. I have lost weight before and seem to go in spurts (lose 5 pounds one week and then nothing for 2 or 3 weeks).
Any programs/exercises that have worked well for you? Previously have I lost by running and plan to get back into it once the temps are reasonable (-35 below with wind chill the other day, no way). In the mean time I have an elliptical and multiple workout videos, just need to get motivated.
I think it is doable, but 57 pounds is a big goal, I'd set some smaller goals so that you can maintain your momentum. I don't have experience with that kind of weight loss, but I think you'd be most successful incorporating general life style changes into your diet such as reducing process foods and sugar.
I was overweight until my junior year of college. I lost ~40 lbs in one year, and it was doable. I only weighed myself every so often so I wouldn't get discouraged and took changes one at a time. It is do-able!

It's definitely doable but it's my opinion that you need to do more than running. Also, don't be afraid to go out in cold weather; when I get back from a nasty weather run I feel like such a badass, and it's super motivating.
The only thing that has worked for me (and I have tried what feels like ALL the things) is a very rigid diet plan coupled with daily exercise (CrossFit, running, cycling, yoga). Just running and eating well did not cut it for me, but lifting and getting strong has made a huge difference.
