I've had low back pain since I was about 9 weeks. It's not constant or super terrible, but it's definitely worsened as the weeks have gone on (16w3d) and it gets much worse after exercising. All I have been doing is walking too, and it seems that the walking motion really aggravates it. The pain is sometimes on my right side, sometimes on my left. Is this normal and just something I'll have to deal with, or does this sound like a problem that might require treatment, like seeing a chiropractor? So far everything I have googled says that exercise should help with back pain, but that seems to make the problem worse in my case.

I'm just 18 weeks and been having some lower back pain on and off the past few weeks. I mentioned this to a coworker who has 2 kids and she was surprised it had taken me so long to have any back pain - she said she had it very early on in both of her pregnancies and it got worse the bigger she got. I think it's just something that is common, especially the bigger you get. When I had some bad back pain a few weeks ago I used a heating pad for a little while a couple of times a day, and also found that actually doing stuff instead of laying or sitting down for long periods of time helped loosen up the muscles. You would think that light easy exercise would help, but I'm constantly surprised by things I learn during pregnancy.
Hope you feel better soon - if it's something that concerns you, definitely bring it up with your doctor.
I think some back pain is normal and I had a couple weeks where it was pretty severe. Stretching helped some, and so did getting a massage. However, if it gets too bad I wouldn't hesitate to see a chiropractor and see if it helps.

If it's any consolation, my low back pain got better around 25 weeks. I saw an acupuncturist. The needles may have helped a bit but the cupping really seemed to help (those suction cups).
I would definitely see a chiropractor if I were you. Try some yoga, massages, back strengthening exercise, epsom salt baths, heating pads, cold packs. Trial and error - see what works for you.
I hope you find relief soon! (my back is aching a bit as I sit here).

Thanks for all the advice! If it becomes truly unbearable I'll talk to my doctor about it or see a chiro, but so far it sounds fairly normal. I just thought it was crazy that it started so early!
