Just had our first ultrasound at exactly 6 weeks. There is one, tiny tadpole-looking baby, with a heart rate of 109, measuring perfectly at 6 weeks. We go back in 2 weeks, and then on to the OB.
I've been feeling much better than i did with my first pregnancy, had basically convinced myself that I probably had a molar pg or blighted ovum, or some other non-viable option. My blood pressure and heart rate were through the roof before the appointment. Lol. Now I feel like I want to get drunk So, yay.
Yaaaaaaaaay!! Someone posted on gotp a journal article that cites that m/c rate drops to like 2 percent once a good HB has been heard. I want SO BADLY to hear a hb at my appt next week, but idk if they'll try or not.
FastHands - you're doing an ultrasound next week, right? If so, you should see the heartbeat too. You can't actually 'hear' it yet, but you can see it flicker on the ultrasound and it'll measure the beats per minute. I kept watching it, saying "that's so crazy!"

I don't know if she will or not. I didn't think to ask the receptionist, and I feel dumb calling again just to ask.

I totally called my OB's office to ask if I would get an ultrasound, even though I had already seen the heartbeats at the RE's office.
But I may be abnormal in that I still don't believe I'll have take home babies even though I'm 27 weeks. I always feel a wave of relief when I see them on ultrasound.

I truly did not believe I was getting a baby until I saw her covered in gunk when they were laying her on me. Like, I was in labor and pushing and still didn't believe there was a baby.

This is totally going to be me. Glad I'm not the only one!
Awesome news Jewel!!! The damn this is really really real fully hit me when while distracting me from not pushing (had to hold off for a bit to prevent tearing while she was halfway Put woth.her little head) by feeling her head. I was in pain (ring of fire, contractions and such) and I felt a.hwad coming out of my vajajay. Oh wow yep, real baby!
I've had two ultrasounds, one at 7 weeks and another at 8.5 weeks. At both they showed the flutter on the screen but would not push the button to let me hear the actual hb. When I asked about it, the RE said that at that early stage it requires too strong a sound wave to pick up the sound and he didn't think it's worth it, as long as we could see the flutter. He was the only doctor that I heard this from though. Judging from GoP and other posters on GBCN, a lot of ppl had heard the hb by 8 weeks. I don't know if this is just my RE being super conservative.
