I am not new to puppies, but this one is giving me trouble. I watch her constantly, and take her outside regularly. Fed on a schedual. Crated at night and when I leave the house. So, 90% is me watching her. Other is 1/2 her going to the door to go out, and 1/2 her speed squating. She is 10 weeks. Am I expecting too much? Should I be doing something different?
She's 10 weeks old, that's normal. Just keep doing what you're doing, lots of praise and treats when she goes outside. Remember too she can't hold is for more than about 3 hours right now so make sure you're not gone longer than that work work or errands.

When she's not crated you might want to either put her in a gated area(laundry room with a baby gate, buy a pet play pen, or tether her to you. I would not let her free roam the house at her age. She has no concept right now that outside is the only place you want her to go. Make sure the first thing she does anytime she is released from her crate or gated area is she is brought outside.
She is crated at night and when I need to leave. I am a SAHM. I can keep away times under 2 hours. I will look for a bell. My oldest just gives a bark to go out. Dog, not kid . Have you heard that tethering can cause seperation issues? I haven't tried that yet, as she is always underfoot anyways.
I've only raised two puppies, but that was very normal at that age for both of ours. 10 weeks is really young. I don't think either of ours were physically able to hold it for any length of time, or mentally able to grasp that we *really* wanted them to, until at least 12ish weeks. Until then it was us getting them out the door before the pee came out, lol. We never tethered, but we also didn't let them out of our sight for more than a few minutes at a time, and got them outside after every nap and every play session. Puppies are full time work, man.
By any chance, is this your first puppy since becoming a mom? If so, it's probably a lot harder to be on top of the pup at all times than it was last time. She'll learn. Sadie had so many accidents that I thought she was never going to be house trained, but she got better at it every month, and now she's a champ.
