Was anyone else affected by the storm? We still don't have electricity. We only lost one zucchini plant, but others in the community garden weren't so lucky. There were a lot of plants that were ripped up by their roots. Part of the fence was damaged by a tree and our greenhouse was completely demolished. We still don't have electric at home.
We had a bad storm in VA, still about 100,000 with out power, we are lucky to have ours. I lost a crookneck squash plant, which had already started to slow production so I'm ok with that. i have entirely too much squash anyhow. I would have cried if I lost my zucchini plant, my biggun is still going strong at nearly 30".
My two big dahlias fell over, but they should be fine.

Half the eastern seaboard lost power. We had a big limb come down, but no downed power lines this time. At least not on my block. However, trees are down all over the city and many are without power just two blocks away.
I was in Ft. Wayne, Indiana when it blew in. I was driving back to my hotel at the time, and it was INSANE. I've been through a lot of bad storms in the midwest, and this may have been the worst. I was terrified at the wheel, as debris was hitting my car HARD. We got back to the hotel and decided to take cover in my grandparents' basement (1 minute from the hotel). Got drenched. The power was out there when we left on Sunday still. Praying for all those without power and in the heat!
Sidenote, I had my power knocked out a few years ago for 3 days in this heat, and it sucked!
It uprooted a few pepper plants, but I was able to get them back in the ground quickly. They were pretty floppy, so I staked them. We'll see how they do. So far, so good!
Our house is kind of in a valley, so we fared pretty well over all.

Not yet. We have some family near Columbus with power, so we've been there hanging out. My zucchinis went crazy since I didn't pick them for a couple days. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do with supersized zucchinis?
I'm in SE MI, there are still about 400,000 without power here! I'm counting my lucky stars that this ONE time we didn't lose power. Usually our house (or our particular transformer, I guess) is the very first to lose power around us. This time, for some reason that I can't understand but am so thankful for, all around us are outages but we're still good. ::whew!!::
Lots of limbs down and all of my flowers that were blooming or about to bloom were whipped right off the plants, but no major damage to any of our smaller plants that I've seen!
