Have any of you been following the shenanigans at the Donmar Theater in London, where he is currently performing in Coriolanus? Basically fangirls are behaving badly in the theater (at least one got caught trying to film the show, others in the SRO section are running around during the performance, especially during the shower scene), and he's being mobbed by unruly folks after the show when he tries to leave each night, some reportedly chasing him to the Tube.
I know too much about this man.
Anyway, I suspect he's on a social outreach lockdown at the moment and he will stay quiet for a while in the hopes that things calm down, which is a bummer.
Definitely why we can't have nice things>:/ Wth why do people act like that. I hope he doesn't stop being awesome in regards to interacting with fans and such.

Urgh. I've heard of people behaving badly at the stage door for Mojo (starring Rupert Grint, Ben Whishaw, Colin-whatever-from-Merlin, and Brendan Coyle although I don't think most of the fangirls are for him). That really sucks. I get such a ridiculous secondhand embarrasssment when I hear about stuff like this. Apparently there was some idiot bragging on Tumblr that she called Benedict Cumberbatch's hotel at like 2 a.m. when he was in Toronto for the film festival, and he told her not to contact him anymore, and she was all in a huff about how rude he was and he couldn't spare a few moments for a fan or whatever. Ay yi yi. It's terrifying.

This reminds me of a local radio DJ where I live who had a listener call in to bitch because he blew her off in a restaurant but it was because she just sat down at his table uninvited with his family and thought that was perfectly acceptable behavior. I really can't understand why people think they can do whatever they want all the time.

This is totally me, too. There are videos on YouTube of Tom signing autographs outside the theater and I can't watch them because people are screaming in the background, telling him they love him, and generally acting like fools. Someone on CEP coined a great term for this second-hand embarrassment; unfortunately I can't recall at the moment what it was, LOL.

I've always been like this, lol. I can't even stand t.v. shows where someone is getting embarrassed. My sister used to love Three's Company and shows like that and I was always just cringing for the characters! The Germans must have a word for it. Like the opposite of schadenfreude.
