This is probably a dumb question, and I think the answer is probably "yes," but thought I would get some opinions.
Miami HM is in 2 weeks (2/2). Training was going SO WELL until December, when my daughter got RSV, I got sick, the holidays, daughter got sick AGAIN, bad weather, and now I am sick AGAIN. All that being said, I am doing my best to stick to my training plan and adjusting for days when I wasn't feeling well.
I did a 10ish mile run this past Saturday and it bombed. Looking back, it's probably because I was beginning to get sick and just didn't realize it yet. I finished the run at a pace approx. 30 seconds slower than my realistic race pace, but had to walk fairly often after Mile 8.
My training schedule tells me to do one more long run this Saturday. Again, shooting for 10 miles. I'm good to go for it one more time, right? One other factor: due to work/scheduling craziness this week, I have to do my XT today and Wednesday, followed by speed work Thursday and an easy 4 miles on Friday. Would I be over doing it running two days back to back before my long run?
I really just want to get this race over with. I'm bummed, because I really wanted to try to push for a PR, but am being realistic with myself at this point. At least there is really good ceviche in Miami, so I have that to look forward to

I would take a rest day the day before your long run day (so Friday off) and just do my best to have a successful long run under my belt before the race. Maybe switch up one of your XT days with a run day or just change a XT day into run day. You are doing great to have done so much for what you've been dealing with. Best of luck in your race!

I really want to switch a XT day, but that's a little difficult this particular week because of night meetings. BUT, I think I could probably eke out a run after putting L down to bed tomorrow evening and XT on Friday.

This exactly. If you don't usually run that many days in a row, skip Friday, and do the long run on Saturday.
