For those that have had "The Crud" this winter, how long is it taking you to get over it? I'm entering 14+ days with this sinus infection over top of a cold. I'm only feeling marginally better than I was a week ago. I've been trying to get plenty of sleep, eat well, drink lots of water and hot tea, take my antibiotics, nasal sprays, and other stuff the ENT has me on. I haven't done any hard workouts, etc.
I have a follow up ENT appointment on Thursday but am just looking for some hair pats and reassurance that I'll be ok--and that this will end at some point.
For me, it took legitimate rest to kick it this year. It started in early November and I took a week off. Thought I was feeling mostly better so I did a full week of mileage with a long run of 20 (total mileage 51), and then it put me on my butt again just in time for marathon taper. I didn't take those 3 weeks completely off, but I took them pretty easy. Never got 100% better. So, then I ran the marathon and got really bad. Took 2 full weeks completely off and was finally better. It was about a 6 week ordeal for me, but primarily because I wouldn't let myself get better in the first place.
Long story short - I would guess you'll be on the upswing soon as long as you let your body heal, which is what I did not do and why mine lasted for so long. It sucks and I'm sorry you're in the thick of it.
I am not sure what I had but I am on day 20 and am JUST starting to feel close to 100%. I thought I would never get better. I have lost so much of my strength, I've had to lower all my weights, and just in the past 5 days have I been able to run (working my way up to 5 miles now, sigh). I have an appt. tomorrow with my GP bc my eardrum ruptured on the airplane because of my illness, I am still deaf and leaking fluid and I am worried about an infection. Good times.
The good news is I am mentally back, I want to tackle the world, my body is juuuust a little behind right now. I spent the better part of 2 weeks wanting to sleep because I was so run down so I know I am on the upswing.
What are your symptoms? I had fever, chills, fatigue, horrible, painful hacking cough/chest cold that moved to my head and sinuses. I had a flu shot so who knows what it was. *hair pats* though. I promise you will feel better soon.
I don't know if mine is "The Crud" or I am just picking up a new cold the same day I get over the last one. But for me, this has been going on for at least a month. I feel like I'm getting better and - bam! - it picks back up again. Right now, it's in my sinuses and I am TERRIFIED of it settling into my chest just in time for my half in two weeks

OMG- I have had it since Christmas, a round of augmentin and a steroid shot later, I STILL have it. It's killing my motivation at the WORST time (read 18,20,20,16 mile runs...) I got another RX yesterday and went to fill in and it was $80...for an antibiotic. No thanks. I have a note in to my doctor to bite to see if I need to bite the bullet and get it (this is the second RX they gave me- same thing with the RX prior to the augmentin) that has been $80...funny how the same RX was $4 or FREE prior to October...
Rant over. I'm just so sick of being sick. I wish I could give you more reassurance.

It's definitely not the flu. Except for some chills and a fever last week it's all from the neck up. Right now it's coughing, enough mucus for half of Atlanta, coughing, sore/dry/irritated throat, a bit of laryngitis (probably from having to talk ALL DAY at work), extreme fatigue, sinus pressure & drainage, and a general feeling of ICK. The ENT said a cold and sinus infection together. JOY!!!
Tomorrow is five weeks. The first week I was dead. The second week I could get by on cold medication. Saw the doc at the end of that week because of the horrible cough that was accompanying the whole thing, and he said to just wait it out and gave me some codeine-laced cough syrup (that was really bad for me, I went back to Nyquil and mucinex).
I'm mostly better, except for a bit of fatigue, a bit of stuffiness, and a lingering cough that just won't go away (and was still bad enough last week that I managed to pull something in my back coughing...).

I've had it for 3.5 weeks and it's mainly just a stuffy/runny nose and bad cough now. I haven't worked out at all in the past two weeks. Ugh. I'm so sad to hear that all you ladies have had it, or a variation of it, too!
DH had it for 6 weeks. He finally broke down and went to the doctor and got 4 prescriptions for bronchitis and something else (don't remember what). He has been miserable. He was coughing so bad for 2-3 weeks that he couldn't even talk. For weeks! I can't imagine.
