We have to provide proof of marriage for me to stay on DH's health insurance.
We got married in England and I don't know where our marriage certificate is. I can only imagine how long it is going to take to get a copy of our marriage certificate and we only have 10 days to submit proof.
@septimus...any time. If you have any issues with sending to US, let me know and I'll give you my address and then FedEx it to you.
Only 23GBP to expedite :-)
DH thinks he knows where it is, but I haven't seen it in YEARS, since before we moved. I've got all the kids birth certificates so that is the easy part.

Yes, in our document safe along with our birth certificates, SS cards, wills, POAs, and other important docs.
I don't know how hard it is to get a marriage certificate from abroad, but H wasn't born in the US and OMG was it a pain to get a copy of his birth certificate (he gave the original to the Army when he joined... facepalm).
yes. we have a fireproof box where we keep birth certificates and other important papers.
Same. Plus our passports and and a hard drive with photo backups.
That said, I'm not sure if its the super official version. It was good enough to add DH back when we got married. But when he switched jobs I'm pretty sure he wasn't asked to verify. But his company is pretty liberal so domestic partnership is allowed.

I'm not exactly sure where our original is (I can think of a few different "very safe places" where I would have put it) but I have a pdf of it saved to multiple computers and emailed to myself.
We had to do that (verify insurance) recently. It seems odd to me since we've been married and I've had the same job for 8 and 7 years now. But, we had other options we could have used if we didn't have our marriage certificate. Do you not have any other options?
