I pulled mine from somewhere for my DAR application and now I can't find it. And I realized I had an IRA that I forgot about from before we were married and now I need it to change my name. Bah.
Yes, in our fireproof safe. That's where all our important documents (birth certificates, passports, etc) are.
Yay. In not the only one that does this!
We have probably 4 official copies of the marriage cert. I knew we'd have to use them for my passports and other various military things. At one point 3 were in the mail to various places.
I also have birth certificate, adoption paperwork, advanced directives, poss,SSN cards, and a CD of our wedding photos. Oh, and my scuba card. Can't forget that
Yes, we have 3 copies. One is with our passports and such, one is with my MIL, and one is with me. I figured just in case we were traveling and lost our passports, at least we could call someone we know and get that paperwork from them.

My husband knows where ours is. We actually have got a few copies when we got married and he used to carry one around in his wallet because he took my name and no one ever believed him

I carried a copy with me because I didn't change my name for a few years. Blockbuster video made me show it once to rent a video with my husband's Blockbuster card. MY credit card, mind you, with my own name on it; but my husband's name was on the Blockbuster account!
We had to do that (verify insurance) recently. It seems odd to me since we've been married and I've had the same job for 8 and 7 years now. But, we had other options we could have used if we didn't have our marriage certificate. Do you not have any other options?
We have to send in a marriage certificate AND the last 2 years of tax returns.
We do. We are lucky that we live in the same county as we were married in so getting one wasn't too much of a pain. We just went to the courthouse and asked for a copy. I need it to renew my driver's license.

Ours was marriage certificate plus tax returns, but if we didn't have the certificate we could substitute some other proofs instead. It might have been because our state allows domestic partnerships, though.
