Traveling with two toddlers on a long flight is HARD!!! We are in Hawaii, with our neighbors that have kids the same age as our kids (that's how we became instant friends). The two kids could not sit still at all and all they wanted to do was jump and climb over seats. OMG. That plus time changes, skipping naps, picking up luggage during bedtime, we didn't get to bed until midnight local, 2am Seattle time. It was rough, but I'm alive!
I currently have two babies sleeping on me. One using a boob as a pillow and one using my stomach as a pillow. And I need to pee pretty badly.
Well I'm jealous that you both are somewhere warm but I'm not jealous of traveling part. I don't even like taking my toddler to the mall! Hope you have fun with your little ones! Nothing we have to do today except clean around here. Hoping for a somewhat relaxing day.
@jennuinne and jennlin I am jealous of your vacations. DH was always reluctant to travel in the first place, but now that we've got the baby he's even more hesitant. I see few vacations in my future. I wish I could convince him to at least go to Whistler, but he doesn't want to ski alone (I can't really ski, and if we don't bring MIL I'd need to watch the baby).
I'm home today, but will be dialing into a couple of meetings at work. There is going to be major announcements around restructuring the marketing department and I'm curious to see if I will be moved around. And then I'm meeting an old business school classmate for coffee to talk about my company since he's applying for a couple of roles there. So a slightly busy Thursday.
I finally got my booby pump today. It's a medela and thankfully insurance fit the whole bill for it. Now to figure it out. I gave it a go once so far and between both boobs got less than an ounce so I'm not sure whats going on. I would assume I put out more than that since J is able to eat and be satisfied. I also have to figure out now when to add in a pumping session without taking away anything from J.
We have a somewhat busy 4 day weekend. H is actually going to go to costco and target with me tomorrow so that should be interesting. Then saturday is a kids bday party and will be J's first social gathering. I'm a little nervous since it's going to be more packed than years past. I have to figure out how to none bitchy keep my infant to myself so theres no passing of germs to her....
stretchad I wouldn't do whistler with baby just cause it's a long car ride and nursing/diaper changing logistics. But that's just me. We've done lots and lots of travel with bjl. Only once we went without any family help and rafts when she was 4 months old (super easy/non-mobile). It's totally worth it to bunk with your mom for an extra hand IMO.
All you vacationers, take lots of pictures for us so we can remember what the sun looks like!
I'm tired today. G was nursing a ton last night after going to bed more than an hour late (DH was dragging his feet for her bath and I had to pack lunch and my work bag). Then she wanted to nurse at 4am and again at 5am. At 5am she bit me hard when falling back asleep so I was wide awake. My alarm was set for 5:30 anyway so I just got up and caught the earlier ferry. Lately I feel like I need 10+ hours of sleep a night so 6.5 feels like torture. Only 2-3 more weeks until 2nd tri and hopefully more energy!
Dana, baby is more efficient than the pump (for multiple reasons), so is probably getting way more than you pump. There are some things you can do to maximize output, though. check out this video (more on the left). newborns.stanford.edu/Breastfeeding/MaxProduction.html
Early morning works well for a lot if women (more milk than later the day), or after the last feeding before bed (long stretch before nursing again).

I remember at first my body had to learn to respond to the pump. I looked at pictures of DD and watched a video of her and that seemed to help me a little bit. Over time I got used to it and it wasn't as much of a problem, but early on it was a challenge. I hope you figure out what works for you dana86!
