Wow! Those are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
She would probably have the most successful child photography business ever if she wanted it - although tough to get the moody weather to comply with a scheduled shoot!

I think what is interesting is that a lot of them would be nice, but pretty average shots - it's all about the light.
I think we discussed lenses a while back? I got an EF50mm f/1.4 USM for Christmas and I'm doing a photography course with some friends. I'm FINALLY on full manual, but I can't imagine the skill it takes to get such amazing shots in those light conditions. It's very motivating to learn more!!

Her composition is gorgeous and the way she uses light is just amazing.
However, I would *love* to see what her images look like pre- and post-processing. I can't help but feel that there's a lot of Photoshop work happening.

Agreed - there is definitely some post processing work happening. I just love the darkness in them. They have a moody feel but so light at the same time. I think it's a hard balance to strike and she's done an amazing job. You can fake a lot, but not that lighting. That's all in her shots and it's phenomenal.
I love how the focus is the kid with out it being completely in your face. Several of the shots are slightly our of focus, but they are still phenomenal shots. I really love dark shots.
Beautiful photos! So much depth. However, every time I look at the two photos with the boys on the dock next to the lake it makes me super anxious. They look so close to falling off the ledge. yikes!

Definitely.
The images are very nice though.
I think you definitely want to work the Photoshop with kids. I love what Dave Engledow has done with Photoshop.

That was my thought EXACTLY. Some of these feel pretty heavy handed with photoshop. There are so absolutely stunning pictures in there and her composition is fantastic, but the editing is really off putting for me.

A LOT of this is due to photoshop but the composition is wonderful.

Yes, this. You can see a lot of haloing going on in the more obvious cases. I'm sure they're still gorgeous photos, but I'm sure some of that drama is PS.

I'm also wondering if she's combining photos or elements from photos together.
I wonder what editing software she's using. She has a great eye for light, I can see that, but she's done some tweaking. You can tell by how silky and rich the photos look.
