This one looks pretty cool! It's kind of obscure too, like I probably wouldn't have any other reason to go to Eugene. We've already been to SD and SF. Not that it matters that much but it'd be nice to go somewhere new. Slightly concerned about it being in July though. It's not crazy hot?
I have no idea whether it's hot or not. I saw you mention Seattle so I thought of one on the west coast. I've read a couple blogs of people who have run eugene and there is nothing but good things written about it. It's track town USA so I'm sure the atmosphere is amazing!
Mrs.flang, where do you live? While not Eugene, I've been in Portland & Salem in July, and it's been beautiful. Well, beautiful for summer, perhaps a bit warm for a marathon. I think the biggest thing is just to make sure that what you race in is better than what you train in. You can rock a high of 80* with lower humidity, if you've been training in the humid 90s, kwim?
Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota - I believe the 3rd weekend in June. It can be warm, but because it's on the North Shore (Lake Superior) usually it's still nice to moderate weather. It's a larger race with gorgeous lake views & amazing spectators once you get to the later miles close to town. I haven't run it yet but definitely want to sometime.
