I ran a marathon yesterday and am running a half on 3/23. I'm planning to probably take this full week off of running. How would you handle training for the 8 weeksin between? Coming off of marathon training, I'm not really interested in doing any runs longer than 14-15ish.
I'd probably take a week off, a couple easy weeks to ease back in, and then do 5 weeks of training for it and a week of taper. Maybe something like 10, 13, 9-10, 14-15, 10-12 for the long runs and the fill in the shorter weekly runs?

Belated, but thank you for the advice! I decided to do 8, 8, 10, 13, 10, 15, 10, HM. I haven't run yet since the marathon, but I feel totally ready for it. I actually wanted to go out yesterday, but with the freakish weather I decided to let myself have another lazy day. Ahh, the beauty of not being on a strict training plan So I'll probably go out for a few miles this evening or tomorrow morning. How are you feeling a week post-race?

Yeah I was planning to go out yesterday too, but put it off til today and had the same thought about training plans! I did 3 on Wednesday and then 5 today. Legs are still feeling slightly more tired than usual but I'm hitting my normal paces pretty easily. Planning to go 8 tomorrow, so we'll see how that feels. I have this half in 2 weeks and I'm really hoping to be sufficiently recovered to try for one more small PR.

I have a feeling you have a definite PR in you! I'm also hoping for a PR at my half in March. I think the weather can be a little more hit or miss then though, so we'll see.

I bet you can get your sub-1:50 coming off marathon training like you are. Unrelated: we need to do a GTG soon! I'll make a post this week.

Yes! So up for a GTG.
My main hope is to PR, but a sub-1:50 would make me giddy. My half in December was definitely a good lesson in pacing, so I feel like that alone could get me a PR. Some speedwork will be a good boost too
