How long do ya'll feel you need after a half to do another? Maybe it's the high of yesterday's race still coursing through me but I'm tempted to sign up for the Austin Half on February 16th. I kind of just want to do it to see how I'd finish compared to my time in 2012.
Assuming that you "raced" yesterday's and didn't just treat is as a training run, the rule of thumb is one day of rest for every mile of the race. That makes this 13 days, or about 2 weeks rest.
I would probably do one long run (that is a little less than whatever your longest training run for this race was) in two weeks time (that will be two weeks before the next race).
Thanks for the input! I've never contemplated doing this in the past but yesterday was so awesome that I can't wait to do another but of course not at the risk of killing myself. Ha.

I usually sign up for two in the Spring and two in the Fall. I once did 2 halfs two weeks apart and that really wore me out. So now I try to make them at least 3-4 wks apart.
I did two that were three weeks apart this fall, and it was great - enough time to recover, but not enough time to really lose a ton of fitness when I found myself really lacking in motivation leading up to the second race. I could just focus on enjoying the runs between races instead of really thinking of them as training.

I am doing that! Lots of people do them both, it will be my third year.
My current half PR is the first year I ran 3M, then I managed to finish Austin about a minute slower - which is amazing when you compare the courses. That was when they were only two weeks apart, now that 3M is two weeks earlier, even better.
I am taking the crazy train a step further and doing Cowtown the week after Austin, then Dallas RNR a month later.
I enjoy large races and love the half distance - I figure as long as I am still having fun, I will keep it up. I generally do one half a month, but Jan-Mar is usually pretty crazy for me with a race almost every weekend.
My first & second were two weeks apart. I was training for the 2nd one, but my SIL signed me up for the 1st one to run with her. I was fine:)
Bwahahaha. I like the way your SIL thinks but I don't know if I would hugged or strangled her. Ha.
yeah...she remembered to tell me on a Saturday, and the race was Thursday (Thanksgiving) - luckily i'd been training! I was terrified though for my first!
