I have a quick question. I was under the impression children under two flying as a lap child didn't pay airfare. I've only done this on Southwest. We are flying American to Barbados in March and they charged us 150.00 for her to fly as a lap child. Is this taxes/fees? I've never paid anything on SW. Thanks!
You always pay 10% of the adult fare plus taxes for a lap child on an international flight. Some airlines may just be taxes but all the ones I know are 10% plus taxes.
Ok thank you! I read on their website that fares, fees, etc may still apply but I thought I'd check and see if this was normal. I appreciate the responses.

This has been my experience as well on international flights.
On the upside, I always got a bulkhead and a little bassinet thing for the kids to sleep in during flight so they weren't on my lap for the whole flight.
