You can so it as often as you want or as little as you want. With M i started with one meal I think it was lunch and would give her a little before her bottle. I didn't do after just because if she didn't want to eat something I wouldn't know if it was because she wasn't hungry or she didn't like it.
We did BLW and it was really easy. Whole/fresh foods take very little time to prepare (sliced avocado, beans, bananas, etc). We put it on the high chair tray and let her have at it while we were eating dinner. If we went out, we'd bring boiled carrots or something less messy. We weren't worried if we didn't have time to do it or forgot.
Some things can be made/sliced in advance, and packaged in Tupperware or a Baggie and kept in the fridge.

who says you can only wear your wedding dress once?
And that's basically it. You can get into a schedule and a habit to keep you sane, like, offer it after his morning bottle and then after his lunch-time bottleish and then his dinner-time bottleish, but really, it's about exploring tastes, flavors, texture, and playing with it.
We only introduced food on the weekends and in the morning, initially, since we wanted to have the full day to see his reaction to it, in case he had an allergic reaction or tummy problems (lots of sweet potatoes = tummy problems btw at least for us).
We'd offer him food about 15-30 minutes after he nursed.
All of this, more or less. We weren't really good about offering solids regularly until G was 9+ months old since life was busy and there were other things that seemed more pressing at the time. It was also nice to have 6 months to transition into starting to think about what the child will eat for dinner/breakfast/etc and when.
we've been giving the babies food once or twice a day. usually around 11 and then 4-5. usually about 15-30 minutes before nursing. babies have been fine with sweet potatoes, although there is usually a LOT of poop after that. doctor approved us to start at 4 months, which we have been doing and we like it.
if i were you, i'd do either during the day or at home at night when you're with him. it's so fun introducing new food to the babies, i wouldn't want anyone else to do it.
