We were at my aunt's house today for a BBQ and swimming. All the local family was there including my 14 year cousin...we'll call her S. S's mom (one of my other aunts) and mom's live in boyfriend were there along with the boyfriend's son, we'll call him R (truth be told I can't remember his name but he has red hair so his name is now Red).
I've only met R one another time...on Memorial at another BBQ and swim party.
I thought nothing of R's appearance today...actually happy to see he's getting more involved with us since his dad and my aunt have been together for at least 5 years and we've never seen him or his sister. That was until I noticed S following R around like a love sick puppy. It got even stranger when I saw her sitting on his lap. I wasn't the only one to notice this either...my uncle wanted to know the name of S's "new boyfriend" and then I explained the relationship and he just looked at me speechless.
I know my cousin. At the very least this means she has a crush on him, at the most they're hooking up or whatever the kids are calling it these days. Either way they are practically step-siblings and I'm pretty sure he's out of high school and over 18. This is just wrong on so many levels. She's the type that has to have a boyfriend and dresses & acts like she thinks a "mature" girl would act and dress. Her mother ignores all of this behavior as well so she's useless.
That makes me sad. No one's paying any attention to that girl except some scumbag guy. I mean, you are, but you're obviously not in the position to do anything like her mom or grandparents are.
That was my thought. I hope things change for her and her family starts paying attention before she crosses into something she can't take back.

That's pretty messed up. Growing up I had a friend who dated her step brother because "we aren't technically related and I really like him". That was also pretty messed up. They actually had a baby together and I feel so bad for the child. I really hope someone steps in and talks to her.

I'm pretty sure I saw a lifetime movie about this. I know people say that, but I actually mean it. We were channel flipping during the summer, bored with daytime tv, and we stopped on something that looked like our school. Turns out, this shitty lifetime movie about a teen romance after their parents got married actually was filmed at my high school, in all its early 80s glory.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is beyond creepy.
Stan, you nailed the situation right on the head too. Next time I see her I'll make an attempt to get a little more info about it. I'm going to say something to my mom about it too but I know her sister will just blow it off.
