Is someone doing one on FunOfficePools? I may not be in since I have nowhere to go but down, but just in case...
I feel like 12 Years a Slave is regaining some momentum after losing some steam to American Hustle. Gravity may win the second most Oscars ever for a non-Best Picture.

Okay, I created a new Oscar Pool at www.funofficepools.com. The name of the pool is "GBCN Oscar Pool 2014" and the password is "Patrick is King". I don't think the nominees are in there yet, but they sent out info on the new system this year.
How to Play the Oscars Pools
Predict who wins in the Oscars in up to 24 different categories Each category is assigned a value from 1 (such as Best Action Short) to 10 points (such as Best Picture) Predict who wins each category in your pool Earn the points associated with each correct prediction Commissioners can customize their pools Pool commissioners can select which categories (up to all 24) to include in their pool (See Manage Categories) Commissioners can also change the point value assigned to each category for their pool Tie breaker is closest to predicting the time when the Best Picture winner is announced Picks are due before the show starts. Most points wins! Total score = sum of all points from correct predictions Start your pool now! Don't have a pool to play in, join one of our partner pools - they're open to everyone and some offer great prizes.
Last year annoyed me so much because I had very strong feelings as to what the winners should be and those were most definitely not who won for the most part.
I have a strong feeling this year will be the same. Especially since the more I think about it the more I hate American Hustle and Gravity.

Ha, my husband is SUPER into the Oscars, and every year he does a "Should win" versus a "Will win" prediction. TOTALLY different.

From what I can tell, it won't show the pool results until noon tomorrow? Kind of weird, but whatever. I forgot to get my picks in! That said, I'll be interested to see if jules beat my husband...he got 21 out of 24 categories.
It says I won on a tiebreak. I am kicking myself big-time. I made two very very very stupid mistakes and should've known better. This year feels like a loss for me; I knew I should've stopped while I was ahead.

My husband was third in the pool.
omg you beat me in a tie breaker!!! lmao..I was way off in my tie breaker guess...i should have known better! This is by far the best i have ever done!
There ended up being higher scores than usual across the board. The Gold Derby consensus was 22-2. Somebody in the Awards Circuit pool got all 24.
I am kicking myself. Mags, at least your wrong picks were cool and smart; Act of Killing and Voorman I had for a long time. Those made sense. My screenplay and editing picks were just so stupid, totally overthought by me. Darn.
You're safe picking 11:56-11:59 as the time for best picture because they want to get the show done by midnight. It always goes over the 8:30-11:30 timeframe by quite a bit.
