Do you make them ahead of time and freeze them? What do you put in your smoothie? Any certain container/glass better for making & freezing?
i am awful at planning my days so I want to make and freeze smoothies but I'm not sure how good that will taste. I typically do almond milk, spinach, protein powder (Lean 25 from GNC) and flaxseed. I'm trying to cut down on dairy and eventually eliminate it.
Dh makes ours every morning, so I consider myself lucky. we don't make them ahead, and the contents vary depending what we have on hand but it's most usually part of a pear, a banana (these he freezes ahead once ripe, as it adds a good texture to the smoothie, frozen blueberries, protein powder, flax seed and/or chia seed, acidopholus (sp?) powder and alternates between almond and hemp milk.
If freezing wouldn't work, could you prepackage the contents in the fridge so each morning you could dump in the bag of solid ingredients and then just add the milk?
I used to freeze individual portions of fruit and then measure out the liquid when I wanted to make my smoothie. I started making one recently with rolled oats, almond milk, frozen fruit, & flax meal. I'm not a huge breakfast person, so I drink those instead. Pretty filling & easy to change up the recipe.
