My "What to Expect" app says I am in my 28th week although I am 27 weeks and 5 days. It confuses me and makes me feel dumb!
I use weeks when I tell people how far along I am because I haven't really figured out the month thing either. I think I am in my 6th month because my due date is 3 months away but some charts I have seen say I will be in my 7th month this week.

It is annoying when things switch between "14 weeks" and your "15th week." When it comes to people asking, unless it's a woman who was recently pregnant, I think they're looking for months and not weeks. In which case, I give an answer based on a rough calculation of 9 months total. So if I were 14 weeks and 1 day, I would probably say over 3 months or almost 4 months.

This is exactly one of the apps I am talking about..
I say whatever week I'm in. Example my ticker says 31 weeks 5 days so I say 31 weeks. I have seen it so many ways that basically when I look at an app I read whatever my current week is and the next coming up week. I have a Dr's appt on Thursday and he always starts off with "You are 31 weeks yes?" (Insert whatever week is current with ticker)
Gotcha, but technically you're not IN that week. You've wrapped up that week. You're technically moving through your 32nd so that's what confuses me. KWIM?
For the record my OB also goes by the date my ticker says.
I just wondered how to answer people when they asked.
I may skip the friggin weeks all together and just do the month answer like simpsongal suggested.
You are technically 14 weeks pregnant but you are in your 15th week. The apps/websites all tell you what is happening this week so they say "the 15th week". It's hard to explain but I hope that helps.
i usually tell them the weeks unless they specifically ask how many months I am. Because 19 weeks sounds better to me than 4 months lol.
I'm a dummy and can't figure out the weeks to months conversion. Even though I've seen a chart. Dividing it into 9 months just doesn't make sense to me. But no one understands what the weeks mean, lol.
I tell people in months, unless it's a woman who has been recently pregnant. Then I round up or down, depending on what day of the week it is. (So right now I am 12w6d and just told a friend today that I am 13 weeks.)

This is where I'm at! When I divide where I'm at week-wise by 4 weeks to get months, I always think I end up with way too many months leftover. If ppl want to know months, they can calculate it themselves. Lol
ETA - or maybe I mean multiply by 4? I'm obviously confused either way, ha!
I read the week ahead in my pregnancy book. So this week my tickers says 14 weeks 4 days, and I read the chapter for the 15th week of development because that is what is currently happening to the baby. Once my ticker says 15 weeks those steps will have already happened (I think.)
When people ask I give them my ticker timeline.
P.S. Super cute ticker!
This makes sense when you say it this way. I've always been reading a week behind in the books (ie I'm 18w4d and have been reading about week 18). I've also been annoyed that my fave app is always a week ahead in the baby development section, but now I know why.
It is confusing! So yesterday you had completed 14 weeks of pregnancy, hence you were 14weeks along. Today you have started your 15th week and will be 15 weeks pregnant next monday. The apps and books show it that way because they are telling you what is currently going on developmentally in the 15th week which should be completed by the time you turn 15 weeks0days. I hope that made sense!

Yeah, exactly, using 4 weeks for a month makes me sound too far along, but subtracting from my due date to figure out months is the opposite. So . . . am I 5.25 months pregnant? Or am I 4.5 months pregnant? I don't know. Maybe when people ask I should just say my due date!
My doc uses what the ticker says, so I do too. In conversation with people I'll say "about 16 weeks" but with my doctor I know to say 15 weeks even if I'm at 15w6d.

One thing that helped was a reminder on one of these forums that you celebrate, for example, your first birthday occurs after completing one whole year. So you're age is 1 but you're now in your second year. You're in the 16th week when 15 weeks and x days but usually use the second number to tell people.

Sorry if this confuses anyone further!
Huh. You know that makes sense also...
Can I just say that I'm just really freaking glad to know that I am not the only one who is /was confused? Whew!!

I have decided that once I have less than 3 months to go, that I am 7 months. So, since we're due on 4/17, I said I was 6 months until 1/17, and since 1/18 we're 7 months. Idk that that's right but in going with it.
on the app, please forgive
Saying I'm 7 months sounds too scary. I'll stick with 6! HAHAHA!!

There are an average of 4.33 weeks in a month, so you take your weeks and divide by 4.33 for a month approximation. You should be about 4.8 months pregnant now. I'd go with "almost 5 months" if you're telling people
Like everyone else said, you are 14 weeks as soon as you've completed 14 weeks, and you are then in your 15th week. Most people would state the week they just completed, just like your age. I'm 31, because I completed my 31st year recently. I'm in my 32nd year of life, but I'm not telling anyone that I'm 32 until I've actually completed the 32nd year. KWIM?

Yes. I am 12w 4d, so I am in my 13th week. Just like I am 31 years old, but I am in my 32nd year of life.
I tell people the number of weeks I've completed (so 12 now), but I really don't think it matters. I don't think anyone else is paying that much attention to my pregnancy (other than to make inappropriate remarks haha).
